Damn.

You know you're into the edges when your "scale model" plane is heavier
than some legal *piloted* flying machines.

(Some guy built a C-130 on about the same scale, which would do LAPES or
paradrops...)

The dump mechanism in the back would toss out pretty much anything up to
a shoebox size (they had a dummy package with a parachute extractor
attached), and the "paratroop" dropper would push out whatever fit in
the conveyor belt (toy paratroops, of course).

*Way* cool.

1. Does this thing qualify for Light Sport Aircraft rules?

2. Homeland Security is going to have Kittens when they see this.
They are already trying to shut down model rockets as a threat
to our nation's airways.

Put an operating bomb bay and external racks on it and be seen practicing....

I noticed the gear didn't retract and the vertical stab was thicker than scale.
I assume there's a reason. I wonder what airfoil the vertical stab and wings
are in the model. How does one determine CL on a swept wing?

Agreed. I fly RC. The FBI has already visited one of the Muslim
members of my club to see why he was buying hydrochloric
acid in large quantities--he was anodizing some of his engine
parts. He answered the door wearing one of his nuclear

Do you happen to know if it was a TRIGA reactor...?

Reason I ask is that those reactors were designed at our elementary school - no

MOAB's too big for a BUFF's bomb bay, isn't it?

Some friends of mine have, for years, been holding an informal "Siege
Engine Competition" to see how far one may propel a standard
twelve-ounce beer can. I idly suggested once that one ought to build a
tenth-scale B-52 and load it with a couple cases. Not being much of a
mathemetician, I have no idea what the payload of a tenth-scale BUFF
would be, though.

Instead of an "Arc Light" strike, it'd be "Bud Light"...

At Wri-Pat they have a BUFF and a mockup MOAB on display.

1. I'm not sure about W&B, but the bomb bays of the BUFF will easily
fit 4 MOAB's. Remember, BUFF was designed in the early 50's to
accommodate the early H-bombs. And they were HUGH.

2. MOAB is designed for pallet extraction. Cannot be hung on

Nope. "HUGH" is neo-con for not checking facts.

I doubt they have a MOAB, as the only one on display was just put up at
Eglin Armament Museum last week. They might have a BLU-82.

Thanks that is an awesome model. I know the site where they fly, I have
been to occasional meets there - but not for some time.

I did mange to see one video and the first take off was obviously from a
full sized airfield. The taxi did seem to be at the model airfield,
which does have a tarmac runway.

I think it's a war crime to use Bud Light. Something about chemical
warfare maybe.
