Seems that some other folks are looking down the road as well...

While older aircraft may well serve as tankers in a traditional role
in
uncontested airspace, new strategic concepts may encompass a need to
operate tankers in a more threatening environment. New operating
concepts may require a more agile tanker with advanced protective
features. Another alternative could incorporate a tanker within a
fleet of aircraft with a common airframe performing several essential
missions. In this case, working with manufacturers to develop options
incorporating advanced technologies, for example, blended wing body
aircraft with the ability to perform surveillance, reconnaissance, and
intelligence gathering missions, as well as tanking, may be
productive.
