comparative cost of American aircraft in WW2

Anybody know where I can get data on the comparative cost of American WW2
aircraft (during the war), especially P-38, P-51, F4U, F6F, P-40, B-17?
Similar data for British planes would also be appreciated.

5,000 pounds Sterling was the nominal price used by Beaverbrook's Spitfire
fund, to give the punters a reasonable target to aim for.


Needless to say, the price of a Mk II in 1940 would be different to a Mk XVI
in 1945, but another 'spares list' price in 1940 can be found here ....

Yes, I had a mental picture of the 'Spitfire Fund' ladder on the side of
our Town Hall during the war. I assumed it was a convenient round
figure.
