View Full Version : Bush is a Failure in War on Terror

Where to start?

"Tonight, I am instructing the leaders of the F.B.I., the C.I.A., the Homeland
Security and the Department of Defense to develop a Terrorist Threat
Integration Center, to merge and analyze all threat information in a single
location. Our government must have the very best information possible." Thus
spoke President Bush in the 2003 State of the Union address. A White House fact
sheet called the center "the next phase in the dramatic enhancement of the
government's counterterrorism effort."

[reported in today's NY Times]

But:

"Mr. Lehman also predicted that the [9/11] commission's final report would
include unanimous recommendations for change in the intelligence services,
which he said could not distinguish "between a bicycle crash and a train
wreck.""It is dysfunctional," he said. "It needs fundamental change, not just
tweaking and moving the deck chairs or the organization boxes around."-- NY
Times

Lehman of course was Secretary of the Navy under Reagan.

-- NY Times 6/20/04

Soooooooooo..... eighteen months after the 2003 SOTU address, our intelligence
apparatus can't tell the difference "between a bicycle crash and a train
wreck."

George Bush is a miserable failure. He has to go.

Sure, Art. That's a no-brainer.

Now the Bush supporters are racking their brain trying to figure out some way
to brand Lehman as a leftie.

We are -less- safe now than we were 3 years ago.

BUT -- we have over 900 KIA in war on terror, so vote for Bush!

I'm sorry guys. He screwed you. He's the worst president ever.

They need no facts to brand Lehman a leftie. They will just say God told them
so.

Who's on top next? You guys really should get a room!

I guess it's comforting to know that even if no one else will listen to your
nonsense, you still have each other.

I wonder if laying off 1/3 of the CIA in the 1990s contributed to not
connecting dots in 2001?

Yeah, nearly as many people went to see "Fahrenheit 9/11" last week as
went to see "Jackass: the Movie" when it opened...

Moore is nearly as popular as *Johnny Knoxville*!!!

One can trust that you will NEVER, EVER again compalin about off-topic posts
in this NG, given your recent obvious compulsion to regurgitate every
possible variation of anti-Bush rhetoric you come across, and this virtual
hand-holding, lovey-dovey bit you have going on with your newest and bestest
buddy, Walt. Geeze, take it to a motel, why doncha?

No, one cannot do that. One can trust that Art will continue to complain
about behavior that he engages in.

I guess I must have been asleep for the last three years, has there been
another attack in America that I have missed. How can you say that Bush has
failed in the war on terror, when there hasn't been another attacks here
since 9-11? Lets not forget who was in office in 93 when the twin towers was
hit the first time, and did nothing about it. Lets not forget whom was in
office when the Embassies in Africa where bombed. Lets not forget who was in
office when the Cole was hit. In all these cases the president of the United
States, said I will not rest until these people are caught, and brought to
justice. Or something like that. The same man, who cut military spending,
cut the legs out from under the Intelligence agencies. The man who made the
US appear weak to potential enemies, who used it as a means to strike the
heart of America. The Terrorist only mistake was not committing these
strikes while Clinton was still in office, because he would have done
anything in return, except maybe attack a pill factory in some third world
nation.

Bill:

You forgot (in listing Klinton's failures) to mention: " . . . the same
man who . . . " did nothing about the information contained in a PDB about
OBL hijacking airliners and running other terror ops in the US.
