Trying to figure out the best places to install the microswitches on
the spoiler and gear. Do not want ANY exposed wiring.
H3, Front Royal, VA.

on my ASW-20 the spoiler microswitch is mounted on the left hand
spoler bellcrank in the fuselage, easy access though the acess hole,
and the other one is on the spoiler guide rod under the seat pan on
the left forward side of the cockpit area.
hope that helps,

Sorry, I meant the gear handle guide rod not the spoiler guide rod.

The trick in all these implementations is finding 1) a place to mount
the switch and 2) a place that has something that moves at (generally)
right angles to trip the switch.
I don't suggest microswitches. They have to touch something, which I
try to avoid, especially for standard certified gliders. Another
thing is finding something that will touch and trip the switch. Often
this severely limits the placement of the switches or requires adding
a right angle "doo-thingy" as an arm to push the switch closed (or
open).
I prefer magnetic switches. These come as a pair, an actuator
(magnet) and a sensor (switch). Once the magnet gets next to the
sensor, the switch inside trips. Very reliable, quiet, and smooth.
These work very well to trip a switch when the thing that is moving
(like a spoiler actuator) is moving horizontally or is rotating so the
switch can be placed almost anywhere. See http://cumulus-soaring.com/hamlin.htm
for details.
My $0.02.
Good luck, John DeRosa
