Thanks! by
birdog
Keep it up, guys. I'm an old,old pilot who lost his medical to senility, but
I still live and breath flying. And you kinda keep me up on what's new. I
could talk flying for hours, but I bore the hell out of others. So I'll just
enjoy the conversations here, and add my long ago experiences when I...

Wings to Adventure by
Paul Tomblin
Is it just me, or has whoever does "Wings To Adventure" set up their sound
levels wrong?
I normally have my volume set to around 20 - but when "Wings To Adventure"
comes on I have to crank it up to around 35. That makes the narrator
audible, but the commercials are painfully loud.

So, how does a frisbee fly? by
AES
Just got our dog a new frisbee (he goes thru 'em pretty fast if we're
careless and leave them within reach after a session).
This one has a large outer wire rim, small inner ring, and stretched
radially between these 8 or 10 tapered spandex wedges (i.e., these
wedges get wider as they go radially...

ICAO Locations by
[email protected]
Hello,
I am interested in locating a reference of some kind to reference ICAO
codes by their geographical coordinates (longitude and latitude).
Although I will be using this to display weather data, I figured that
there may be somebody in an aviation group that may know where I could
find this...

Tomorrow (Friday) my two oldest boys, father, and I will be departing for a

Garmin GNS 430 - cities in a flight plan?! by
DBn
Is it possible to use cities as waypoints in flight plan and how?
The only way I can make a city as a waypoint is by using panning function on
the map - point to the city and then press "direct to" key.
Or it is some kind of safety feature - not to alloud to use cities as
waypoints?

Sopwith Camel Video by

This plane has some serious gyroscopic forces, even while the engine is
warming up at the chocks. Throttle control by the mags sounds interesting in
the sense of the curse "May you live in interesting times." KD

One of my colleague's daughters is training for CPL in India. I don't

what she must be...

What FARs cover R/C drones? by
Jim Logajan
The following news item has the FAA on the Los Angeles' sheriff's case
about the sheriff's use of R/C planes. I've searched the FARs in the past
to see if I could find what regs covered radio controlled (or more
interestingly, autonomous) aircraft and came up with nothing. I think the
Sheriff has a...

A dumb doubt on stalls by

Is it possible for an aircraft to stall and sink nose-up tail-down

Mexico Border TFR No that bad by
Gig 601XL Builder
Of course the AOPA disagrees and I completely understand the slippery slope
but let's face it the little plane should have no problem flying under the
TFR and the big planes should have no problem flying over or under it.
Since it looks like we are going to have to deal with UAV in the future...
