An absolutely perfect VFR day by
Jay Honeck
The air was a perfect 70 degrees, with very little humidity. Sure, the
winds were kicking up a bit, from 220 at 10, gusts to 19 -- but that
just made things more sporting.
Best of all, we had no real plans, and no reason to be back before 5 PM
-- and it was only 9 AM. Does this describe a...

Google Earth Heathrow 9L approach by
news.east.cox.net
I'm looking at the approach end of 9L at Heathrow on Google Earth.
Look right over the numbers, then look back a few hundred feet.
I guess they have different separation rules over there.

Air Scooter for $50K by
rps
There's a link on today's MSNBC page to a recent CNN video report about
an "air scooter" that will purportedly hit the market next year for
$50K. It looks like an ultralight helicopter. No mention of aircraft
or pilot certification requirements. CNN is billing it as the solution
to road...

Flanada: 2 month flying trip in Canada and Alaska by
kauboy
Hi
My girlfriend and I are planning to do another 2 month flying trip.
After Australia (www.bucka-lassen.dk/flacroz) and Southern Africa
(www.selberschuld.com/flafrica) we have decided this time to do Canada
and Alaska (and maybe parts of the northern US). We are seeking advice
on where to go,...

leaning a lycoming engine by
airpix
A few of you were asking about leaning a Lycoming engine awhile back.
Here's the official word from Lycoming:
In order to cope with high elevation airport takeoffs with normally
aspirated engines, whenever the density altitude is 5,000 feet or
higher, the pilot must compensate on the ground before...

GPS altitude vs altimeter altitude by
Chris W
It is my understanding that even if a GPS is reading perfectly and your
standard altimeter is reading perfectly even on a standard day that the
2 values will not be the same. Does anyone know about how far off they
are and if there is a way to calculate what the difference should be?
My guess is...

Reflections on good and evil by
[email protected]
My name is Lorenzo Crescini and I'm Italian. These "Flashes on
Good and evil" reflect the same mood characterizing the Flashes on
the Holy Gospels and Turin's Holy Shroud I wrote in Africa: making
myself useful to our Lord Jesus Christ.
I will start by quoting the best Prayer to Jesus I've ever...

Supplemental O2 and children by
Peter R.
Does anyone have any experience using supplemental O2 with children ages
six and eight? Can this be done successfully (assuming the children are
very good at following directions)?
I am planning two round trip flights this summer in the non-pressurized
turbo Bonanza, one across the US from NY to...

TFR: Narrangesett Bay Tuesday 4/18/6 by
Bryan
There is a TFR for the Jamestown, RI Bridge implosion Tuesday 10AM - 2PM
local time. (The parallel bridge will also be closed for extensive
periods and a notice to seamen has been issued by the Coast Guard.) I
noticed the AOPA TFR page doesn't have this one listed, so heads up if
you are flying...
