Meigs Class D Still Active?

Meigs had Class D airspace from 6 AM to 10 PM and Class G airspace from 10
PM to 6 AM.

Typically, the G is only from the surface to the bottom of the overlying
E, no?

For instance, many of my local D's are located within E down to 700.
I've heard the tower closing announcements @ GON & HVN, where they state
that the space defaults to G. I always assumed that this meant only to
the floor of the overlying space.
