Simulator with 3-monitor support? by
Gary G
Thanks for your response.
I appreciate that you took the time to respond.
3-monitor cards can be had more easily than you think.
Who said anything about "new".
There are many second-hand locations, including Ebay, where you can get a good deal
on a pretty decent 3-monitor card.
In fact, although...

Update: My first in-flight mechanical failure by
Gary G
This form of noise would change (generally) with engine RPM.
There are often 2 types of noises created.
1 - "static" noise
(It's kind of hard to describe in text)
2 - Very noticeable RPM-related noise.
Both change with RPM, as the engine fires faster.
Both can come from the same source.
Just FYI...

irrefutable bottom line about picture ID's by
kontiki
If have heard not one single tangible bit of evidence from anyone
that requiring a picture ID for pilot license will do anything
to justify the cost and inconvenience when it comes to enhancing
national security.
There hasn't been a single case of terroristic use of a GA airplane
that I am aware...

Simulator with 3-monitor support? by
Gary G
I, like others, are turned off by the limited view that most low-cost simulators have.
I'm interested in knowing simulators (PC-based) that support 3 monitors.
Since video cards with 3 outputs can run below $100, I would like to invest in
a good sim.
Of course, price is a factor - so something...

Disappointing Oshkosh 2004 Video on Wings by
Jay Honeck
This video aired last night on Discovery Wings, and I can't tell you how
disappointed I was.
They didn't cover the fly-in at all, preferring to focus instead on the
"gee-whiz" parts of the show, including Burt Rutan, Bruce Bohannon, and
NASA's ever-optimistic predictions of a flying car in every...

Great quote by
Roger Long
From Avweb's Kevin Garrison in this week's column:
"Using the B-52 as our main bomber is the same thing -- in terms of years --
as using a three-masted schooner to battle the Japanese fleet in World War
II."
If you do the math, it's true. Amazing.

Reporting windsheer by
Peter R.
Last week during the climb-out, I encountered clear-air windsheer (as
opposed to thunderstorm-induced windsheer) at about 4,500 feet above the
ground.
The airspeed indicator dropped 15 knots while my groundspeed increased.
After a minute or so, the airspeed indicator returned to its...

Okay, what's being said here? This is the spec for the Vertex radio. I
notice that the Icom says 5 watts PEP. What's the different between TX

Thanks!

Hi Jay;
I'm going to try something here. It may work. It may not, but I'll give
it a go anyway just to see how you and the group in general react. If
this post illicit a bad response, I'll call it a day on this issue. If
it doesn't, I'll be glad to discuss it with those interested.

Too much information for ATC? by
David Brooks
The other day I wanted to fly VFR across RITTS, which is both the LOM for
the ILS, and the origin for the NDB approach, to PAE. I was traveling east
at right angles to the approach course. I decided to call Center, who
handles approaches in these parts. Although it was clear VFR and I know he
could...
