Official FAA position on 'Furtherance of business'? by
Captain Wubba
Hello. Just reviewing the new 'Sport Pilot' regs for their
implications to me as a CFI. Looks like in 61.315(c), the FAA has kept
the unfortunate limitation on being PIC of an aircraft 'in furtherance
of a business' that they had on Recreational Pilots.
Does anyone know of any 'official' FAA...

RNC TFR: Special permission for MMU and TEB but not CDW? by
Andrew Gideon
There aren't enough wealthy pilots at CDW to contribute to Republican
coffers? Why else do the jet-heavy airports get special procedures while
Caldwell is left hanging?
Or does someone really believe that a 172 is more of a threat than a
Citation or Gulfstream or some such?

Remember the Arrow by
onsitewelding
I was just wondering if any pilots on this newsgroup ever saw in person or
remember Canadas Avro Arrow that was built in the late 50's. My father grew
up in the milton area and was getting or had his ppl at the time and he told
me few stories about the plane.
It seems a shame that this project was...

Advancement of prop blade in flight, new information by
Corky Scott
Sorry, I got my information wrong when I stated that a three bladed
prop advanced 15 inches during each revolution at 200 mph.
I now have the article in front of me and the exact quote is as
follows: "At 200 mph and 2,800 rpm, the blades on my three-plade prop
follow three distinct helical paths...

The MATS Constellation by
Jay Honeck
When I was a child I had an opportunity to ride from Dallas to D.C. in a
Connie.
That was nearly 50 years and I still remember it like it was yesterday.
I would love to see one "up close" again!
Well, here are a couple of shots of it I took...

"W" is JFK's son and Bush revenge killed Kennedy in 1963 by
Ross C. Bubba Nicholson
JFK gave Barbara Pierce a lesson in life in the summer of 1944 (making
her a "Cape Cod heiress"), and to her eventual husband, JFK gave a
personal motive for revenge. Perhaps if George and Barb had announced
their earlier engagement or even if George had given Barb a diamond
instead of a cheap...

Flying to Russia. . . by
Chris W
Suppose you wanted to fly from Alaska to Russia, in a typical single
engine GA aircraft like the 172. From mainland Alaska to mainland
Russia is about 55 nautical miles. Are you going to make preparations
for the possibility of a water landing?
I have read a few accounts where people did. I...

have recent experience with the airfield/FBO or general area? Just want to
