Earthmate GPS Receiver
http://www.gps4fun.com/del_earth.php
Anyone think this receiver is the cheapest mouse (WAAS capability) on
market?
(I really don't need that street map software that included in this product,
but the price is actually cheaper than any gps mouse on market)

Aviation Truths by
Dave Russell
1. Fresh bugs will come off, but old bugs are a part of your paint
scheme forever.
2. If you fly the airplane the same way you operate an elevator, then
you are an airplane driver and not a pilot.
3. The Wright brothers flew with a stick, not a steering wheel.
(*Please* don't tell me about the...

Rental policy by
Robert
I received my private last September, and have rented a Cessna 172 from the
same place I completed my training at ever since. Recently, I've been
looking for a new place to rent because the 172's at my current FBO are old
and always down because something broke yet again.
I went to a different...

Mid-west Fly-in camping? by
Jay Honeck
Every year, since his feet could reach the pegs, my son and I have done a
motorcycle camping trip together.
This year, at age 13, his feet can comfortably reach the rudder pedals -- so
now we're talking about doing a flying/camping trip, too.
Can anyone suggest a fly-in campground within, say 500...

Air Tour Virtual Meeting by
Jim
I'm asking everyone in the group to please take the time to visit the FAA
site and post a comment or two on the proposed National Air Tour Safety
Standards Public Meeting.
I was just there and disappointed in the lack of comments.

"Where" is my destination? by
Ben Jackson
Leaving OAK I called ground and asked for flight following to 7S3
(which I gave by name and spelled phonetically). Later, while I'm
taxiing they come back with "where is that" and I couldn't imagine
how I could help them if the identifier didn't, so I came up with
"near McMinnville", which is both...

17-year cicadas of any concern to aircraft? by
Peter R.
As a relatively newly-certificated pilot (two years ago), I am curious
about the upcoming emergence of the seventeen-year cicada in the northeast
and midwest US later this May.
Are there any hazards to aircraft associated with these insects, either on
the ground or in the air?

R in a Circle (Airport Surveillance Radar) on VFR charts by
Jeff Saylor
The R in a circle symbol next to an airport on Sectionals nindicates
that this airport has Airport Surveillance Radar. But what does this
really indicate to the VFR pilot?
At Reading, Pennsylvania (KRDG) there is such a symbol. This (Class D
Airspace) airport has its own Approach control (shared...

VOR name in bold and underlined? by
Mark
I have a question that has been buggin' me for a while.
Why are some VOR names in bold and underlined? For instance, the NABB
vor (north of Louisville KY) and the Dayton vor are in bold and the
name is underlined where as others are not.
I've checked the NOAA Aeronautical chart users guide and...

Too late to be a pilot? by
Fuzz
Hi all,
I'm 36 years old and I'm wondering if it would be possible to become a
professional pilot. I've never taken a flight lesson - is it
possible, or am I dreaming? Even flying for a charter company would
be cool. Just wonderin'...

Dear friend,
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bill Gamelson, and I had a
