TV episode: terrorists+ultralights by
David Reinhart
"Sue Thomas: FBI" ran the first of a two part show tonight that has
terrorists getting ready use ultralights (Did you know they come in big
packing cases marked "ultralight"?) to spread bubonic plague. Just the
sort of program we need.

What are the requirements in Canada to hold a rating to fly small jets like
this
(http://www.aircraft.com/listings/forsale/Detail.asp?PID=118154&guid=o17lg8w

I know they are out of my reach right now because I only have a PPL. I
assume the ATPL...

Plans for a small tug/tow device for C172? by
DK
Anyone seen any plans for an electric tug for a 172? I can get my
hands on a motor, but not sure how much horsepower it should have, or
really have a plan of attack for putting something together.
Yes, our 172 does need a tug. We just got a new hangar, and you have
to push it up a bit of an...

Sectional Map Error by
[email protected]
Near as I can tell, the West Gladstone (9C9) airport is just not where
the FAA sectional says it is. I think it's on one side of the Escanaba River
and the FAA says the other.
The funny thing is that the GPS database is correct.
BTW, I would bet alot of money that not one person here has even...

AOPA's new online flight planner by
Jim
Just got an email from AOPA pushing their new online flight planner. First
impression is telling me not to give up my E6-B, plotter, and sectionals.
It's slow, clunky, and disconnects constantly from the Jepp server bank.
I'll give them time to improve it, but they're doing a poor job...

Approaches over a foreign country by
M. Tettnanger
How many airports are there where you temporarily cross the
border during the approach?
I notice that Tijuana has an approach path over the SW
tip of the U.S., while Brownsville has an approach
over part of Mexico. El Paso also appears to have
approaches over Ciudad Juarez, but I have no...

Leaning / step climbing? by
aaronw
Hi all:
I fly underneath a Class B airspace (Washington). My question is that
while I am leaving the area on a flight, I will often end up climbing
up higher as I get further from my departure airport as I get under
the shelves that are higher up. When I am entirely free of the Class
B, I pick a...

Fear of flying / aviaphobia by
Sue
I am writing a piece on the fear of flying and comical ways that some
people have tried to overcome this. If you have any funny tale you
can share with me, please email me and let me know. If your story is
used in my final article, I will send you a copy before publication.
Thanks for your help.

IFR accelerated training by

I'm looking for accelerated IFR written training programs. I have picked
up the gliem audio review program and started listening to it, but it is
a bit boring and difficult to concentrate on :)
Any other programs that are alittle more automated? I've thought about
the american flyers program,...

Deadly Rhode Island Collision in the Air - KWST by
John
Apparently a Cessna was departing while a Piper PA-28
(possibly an Arrow) was landing at Westerly State (KWST).
Airplanes collided with each other about 100 feet AGL. Both
aircraft impacted the runway. All 3 Piper occupants
survived with few/little injuries and were released from a
hospital. ...

Kitty Hawk on Dec. 17th - Who's going? by
Frank
Syd's post on ways to mark the 100th anniversary made me think this is a
good time to ask who's going to the celebration and maybe get a little
info....
I got my tickets late so there weren't any hotels available close by. So
we're staying in Norfolk and driving down. I've decided to let...

Flying with the Carb-Heat on for a long(er) tour? by
noah
Hi,
After taking two passengers on SF-Bay tours, I realized that I
want to take the tour slower... A north-bay tour (SF, GGB, Ocean
Beach, without the 101/Bravo transition) takes about 40min roundtrip
from OAK - a little quick.
I've been used to flying with the rpm around the bottom of the
green...

Commercial required? by
Wayne
Is there any way to do aerial photography and sell the pictures without
having a commercial license? Seems to me there isn't, but I know people do
it. I was just wondering if there was a catch somewhere that would allow it
and if so, under what circumstances.
Thanks
Wayne
