Aircraft tax question by
George Patterson
Ok, I know we have some tax experts out there. Tell me. When you sell an
aircraft, what taxes apply to the seller? Is this a capital gains/loss
situation? We're talking about an aircraft owned by and registered to a private
individual and used for pleasure.

Hard Starting Cold Continental Engines by
M.E. Borner
My Seneca V (Continental TSIO-360-RB) has been very hard to start
during cold weather for the past few winters I have owned it. Besides
burning out several starters I have tried tune-ups prior to winter and
installing the Slick Shower of Sparks ignition system. All have helped
a little but no...

The need for original documents, N-reg aircraft? by
Bob Moore
Peter wrote
There are various documents such as the cert of airworthiness, and
(for an N-reg in Europe) the FAA radio license, which some say need to
be carried in original.
The Radio License doesn't come from the FAA, it is isued by the FCC.

KX125 by
Roger
I was in the process of entering the AWOS freq and when I pulled the center
knob to select the .72 on my King KX125 the whole center knob and shaft
came out. Has anyone had this problem? What does it involve to fix it?

Cont O-300D oil leak problem by
[email protected]
I don't know what to do about this . . . hoping the collective wisdom
here might have some ideas. For the last 3 months or so, after every
flight, there are small streaks of oil on the inside of the lower
cowling on my 67 'Hawk . . . if I don't wipe them up, they drip down on
the tire of my nose...

Which oil can cutter? by
Jim Burns
Which oil filter can cutter do you or your mechanic use? There are several
available and the prices are as varied as their claims. Wondering what you
use and which ones to avoid. Currently we've taken our filters to a friends
and borrowed him, his cutter, and his time. Time to buy one of my...

I will be moving 60 miles for work next week and I'm not sure how to
download this site when I get to my new job. Can someone walk me through
the steps? I don't want to lose this site.
Thanks in advance.

More Skytec starter woes by
[email protected]
Hey all... I posted about a year ago about "residual engagement" on a Skytec
starter for my Cherokee 180. At that time, I discovered the poor way that they wired
it for certified aircraft use. Using the alternate wiring (for experimental only)

Garmin 430 Jeppesen Skybound updates by

Is it possible to purchase a one-time update to the 430 database using the
Skybound adapter?
I don't fly enough IFR to require a current database year round and I'd like
to just update it during certain times during the year.
When I check their webpage all I can find is a one time mail in option...

Aircraft Tugs by
[email protected]
I recently became a first time aircraft owner and I'm quickly realizing
that with the uneven pavement on the ramp to my hanger, and the 2600lb
empty weight of the plane, I'm going to have to resign to getting some
form of aircraft tug.
Looking at the Sporty's catalog, there are two types listed,...

retrofitting an autopilot by

The AMD Alarus IFR trainer that I'm thinking of buying is pretty well
equipped and reasonably priced but it doesn't come with an autopilot. Is it
possible to retrofit one with reasonable cost and reliability?
