c150 rudder stop AD by
Brendan Grace
Can anyone describe the way the rudder stop mod on Cessna 150s
should look? I went to rent a 150 and the way the AD was
incorporated didn't look right so I passed on the flight. The
stops were attached to the rudder horn (? the curved metal
portion) by drilling three holes and riveting the stops...

intercom question by
GE
I recently purchased my first a/c, unfortunately it only has a 2 place
intercom. I don't really want to go through the trouble of installing a four
place intercom for the few occasions that I take backseat passengers. I have
looked (online) at the portable intercom systems but I am not sure how...

Cessna 210 charging problem by
John Clonts
I am now able to reproduce my charging problem.
Engine off, Bat and Alt on:
Bus voltage: 24.8
Supply to Voltage Regulator: 22.6
Voltage Regulator Output to Alt Field: 21.6
I'm thinking maybe I should rig a jumper from Bus to the Voltage regulator
to see if the problem has to do with that 2.2v...

Older Bo's by
The Weiss Family
All,
I was recently perusing through some of the newer Trade-A-Plane listings,
and I saw tons of old Bonanzas.
Within the last 3 days of listings, there were probably 10 or more.
From previous threads in this newsgroup, I have read that the older Bo's are
expensive to maintain, typically due to...

Wet vac pump question by
JFLEISC
In my continuing effort to plug all the oil leaks in my Continental 0-300 I
have a final question about wet vacuum pumps. How much oil out the vent is too
much? This is a '61 C-172 with the factory standard oil recovery system off the
wet vac. About twice as much oil comes out the vacuum vent as...

Stolen Engines by
MontyJ
The engines/props were stolen off a twin that had been sitting for 4
years (the auction of the plane is on Ebay). Just wondering if the
serial numbers are in a FAA or maintenance database somewhere and
could be traced as to where they are now. Any other ideas how to find
them? If they were shipped...

Shinn brake linings - bonding vice riveting by
Michael Horowitz
Apparently the preferred way to bond brake linings in Shinn brakes is
to use rivets. I got my a/c with the linings epoxied(?)in place.
1. Is one fastening method prefered over the other?
2. Can I use heat to remove the current linings?
3. Any particular epoxy to use? Any danger of the lining...

help - whiskey compass has gone wild by
Jim
The wet compass in my Cessna 150 has suddenly decided to indicate way off.
I took it off the dash mount and it reads nearly correctly when moved about
12" away from the instrument panel, and even better when out in the open by
itself. I got another wet compass from a friend, and as I moved it near...

New Paint Care Suggestions by
Nathan Young
My Cherokee is in the paint shop, due out in a few weeks. Looking for
suggestions on maintaining a new Imron finish... Of course, I will
solicit input from the paintshop as well.
The plane is hangared, and only sits outside when on trips, so I
figure that is a good start.
Many people do not...

Bonanza Engine Temperatures by

I have a Bonanza F33A...turbonormalized IO-520BB. Can anyone tell me what
are typical operating EGTs and CHTs in climb; at 65% cruise power; at 75%
cruise power? What maximums should be observed in the climb for EGTs, CHTs,
TIT, Oil? I constantly hear conflicting data and would be interested in...

Whelan Strobe Troubleshooting... by
zatatime
Does anyone know how to go about trouble shooting a Whelan strobe
light? It is on a Piper Cherokee and is the "beacon" of the airplane.
I had an extra bulb I don't know the status of and swapped it out, but
still didn't get any emission. I'm thinking that its probably the
unit, but I don't know...

Power Enrichment Operation by
PaulH
I believe that most engines have a "power enrichment" device that
enriches the mixture beyond "full rich" on take-off.
1. Is this true for both carburetor and injected engines?
2. What activates it? It it the position of the throttle lever, some
sort of MP differential, or something else?
