Garmin 296 worth the money? by
Terry
I know after reading this newsgroup for over three years that many
questions have been asked regarding the "best" GPS for the money...so
forgive me but the Garmin 296 is so new I can't find out much about it.
Lots of old articles about older models of GPS receivers.
I've been using the Lowrance...

oil change on my Tripacer by
mike regish
Did an oil change on my Tripacer. I've done them before and they're pretty
easy. This one though, it looks like my oil screen cover is leaking like
crazy.
I actually changed the oil last month right before it went into annual. They
flew it (looks like a couple of hours worth) with no leaks...

Advice on buying a 152? by
rajek
I'm considering buying a 1978 Cessna 152 that the owner is leasing to a
flying club. I'd continue to lease it to the club and learn to fly in
it. (I have 3 1/2 hours now.) I'd hope that plane to earn enough money
to cover most of its maintenance and insurance, including a new engine
in a few...

Mexico-Clubs or Private Owners? by
Chris
Greetings... I may be moving soon to Mexico City, and I want to be
able to keep flying.
If there are any Mexico experts out there, I have these questions:
-- If I am residing in Mexico, can I continue renting and flying
aircraft with my U.S. certificate?
-- How difficult would it be to get a...

Determining the health of a part? by
Michael Horowitz
Folks - someone has offered to sell me a set of landing gears.
How can I determine they in good condition, that is, any repair that
may have occurred and is not visible was done in a manner that won't
fail on me? Is there an examination the A&P can conduct i.e.
magna-fluxing (yeah, I know that's a...

buying from an estate by
G.R. Patterson III
Tony Woolner wrote:
Is it more difficult to buy a plane from an estate rather than an owner?
There is a broker involved who listed the plane.
As long as there's a broker involved, it may be easier. Owners sometimes have
inflated ideas of the value of an aircraft and refuse to lower the...

Interstate Aviation and Moyer Aviation by

Has anyone had deallings with Interstate Aviation in CT or Moyer

I had Moyer do an oil change for me once at MPO. Good work and a decent price. They
also gave me reasonable estimates on other work that I was pricing. On the other
hand, I heard that they...

Cessna buyers in So. Cal. beware ! by
Larryskydives
No matter what your argument is - it's "BUYER BEWARE"
The plane I just bought recently was after driving to Atlanta, GA - Pensacola,
FL - Meridian, MS - and then to two towns in Wisconsin. And that was starting
from central Mississippi. I knew good and well when I left for each one that
it may...

Ok, guys, Lemon Pledge has been increasingly hard to find around
here. So I emailed the company to find a local supplier. The
reply is copied below. Obviously, we have to find another
product to clean bugs from the windshield and leading edges.
Suggestions?

Handheld GPS auto mount OK? by
Henry Kisor
I've just bought myself a new Garmin handheld GPS. I noticed that the auto
dash mount is stuck to the dashboard with some kind of double-stick stuff.
Is it OK by the FAA to stick the mount onto my airplane's glare shield this
way, or do they consider it a permanent installation and require 337s...

Garmin 296 and FliteStar by

I recently bought a Garmin 296 and found I can not upload route or data from
the 296 to Flitestar. The Garmin 295 worked flawlessly. I have the serial
cable and the USB cable. Neither one will allow this transfer.
Does anyone have any better experience? If not beware...I wouldn't...

Anyone know about this little 2 place twin. I would love to try and talk
my Dad into buying a kit. It looks as if it will be the cheapest twin
ever. 2 place side by side. 2 80hp motors. 3 1/2 gph, and a total of 7
gph. Looks like it will be the cheapest what to build Multi time. Put
one of these on...

Wheel Pants Weight by
Patrick
I was wondering how much weight taking off the wheel pants would gain
me for cargo? I have a 1979 C152 with wheel pants and need to be able
to carry a little more weight. I've heard around 18 pounds, but does
anyone know for sure?

Belly Cleaning - Nothing like Instant Gratification! by

Thanks for all the replies! I think I'll start with some mineral
spirits (although the gojo sounds intriguing) and if any exhaust
stains remain I'll invest in the Aero-Glaze.
Appreciate the help.
