Four Static Ports! Which to Use? by
John DeRosa Sky Soaring Chicago IL
I need you opinion on which static ports to use on the DG. The
friendly folks at Glaser-Dirks provided me with two pairs of static
ports on my DG.
One pair is near my toes, the second pair near my knees. The only
difference is that the aft pair are on a surface that is almost

SeeYou - "Calculate minimum distance to next observation zone" by
Tom
SeeYou has an option in the task window called "Calculate
minimum distance to next observation zone" Does anyone know
what calculation this uses? Say I fly 20 miles west to turn
1 on an AAT task with 5 mile areas. Turn 2 is 6 miles
north of the midpoint of the first leg, but I fly straight
back...

Why Soaring's Safety Record Doesn't Improve by
JJ Sinclair
Ever ask yourself, why doesn't our safety record improve? We seem to have the
same type and about the same number of accidents every year. Lets take the
*controls not hooked up*, its about time for another one of those. Every year a
couple of guys will try to fly without hooking up a control. This...

Commercial - Pocket PC Connections by
Paul Remde
Hi,
A few months ago I started selling the new RAM powered cradles. They are
nice cradles, but it is not ideal that the power/data connector is located
on the bottom of the cradle. The Goddard team has just helped me solve that
problem. They have determined that they can re-route the...

Impact of noise control efforts on landouts? by
nafod40
Might want to check out this site...
http://www.stopthenoise.org/
While focused on powered planes and their noise, note a quote from the
site...
"It is the mission of STOP the NOISE to...restor local control over
the non-essential, recreational uses of the airspace which is part of
our lands."

Conopy glue by
Pete Reinhart
All,
Advice needed
My canopy frame and caopy are beginning to disbond.
Need to know what to use to glu them back together.
Current thoughts a epoxy and flox, poluerthane cement, acrylic cement
(for plexiglas crack repair), and adhesive sealant like 3M 5200.
Ideas please. Nolaminar?, JJ?
Thanks!!!

Today we awoke to heavy fog. Late burnoff then came thunder and heavy rain.
Several launched UH, DJ ( G. Dale from NZ is flying DJ ) into thunder. But they
stayed up and flew about 100 miles to Mill Creek to several close in
turnpoints. All others did chores, ZM worked on a fuse problem with his...

Parachute safety by
Duane Eisenbeiss
Those of you who own a parachute manufactured between Fall, 2001 and Summer,
2003 should be aware of FAA Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin
(SAIB) NE-03-50 dated Aug, 21, 2003. The SAIB advises that a company which
is the sole supplier of ripcords pins for ripcords used in parachutes...

GPS active antennas by

For some reason there seems to be a rash of new third party active
flat antennas going cheap on eBay right now. Prices are around GBP
24.00 while retail prices range upward from GBP 35 or so.
I just bought one for my GPS II+, fitted it and flew it yesterday.
Works fine and is definitely giving a...

Cessna 182 Tost 337? by
[email protected]
I've had a Schweitzer tow hook jam on a Cessna 182.
As we are about to put a tow hook on another Cessna 182, I would
really prefer a Tost (like we have on the Pawnee and the Maule), for
safety and so that we can share the same tow rope. :-)
Does anyone know of a Tost 337 or STC for a Cessna...
