Thermal right, land left by
John
This past year, I have stuck to a policy of making all thermal turns
to the right only.
The airport I fly out of has left turns in the pattern. My idea is I
am developing the habit of turning slow to the right only. All left
turns are made at higher pattern speeds.
With the condition I am just...

Grob102 elevator balance mods by
OscarCVox
Hi
The elevator balance mandatory mods weigh about 2kg. Thus you would need about
10kg in the nose to balance it. Now my understanding is that if you put weights
on the ends of a long fuselage and spin it there is a tendancy for it to end up
in a flat spin? please correct me if I have this...

Ultralight sailplane aerotow liability by
Caracole
We recently had a pilot show up and ask if we would aerotow him in his
Sparrow Hawk. Our first question was to ask if the glider was
licensed. His reply was that it was not required to be licensed. Our
second question was if he had insurance on the glider. He replied by
asking if insurance was...

Which PDA software works best on Black/White screen? by
cernauta
Dear all,
I would like to use my older Ipaq 31xx. I suppose B+W screens have
lower power requirements and are readable in the sun.
But, which software gives the best results on B+W screens for airspace
and maps?
Should I convert the maps to B+W with Photoshop?
thanks in advance

Fllight Recorder Wars, Part II: What Backup to Use? by
Chip Bearden
I'm currently using a Cambridge LNAV, a GPS/NAV model 20, and Pocket
NAV on a Compaq 1530. Last summer, I experienced my first flight
recorder hardware failure just before (thank goodness) a contest. So
I am looking at backup options. I'd like an add-on device; I have
neither the money nor the...

Toshiba e800 and Dell Axim X3 by
Paul Remde
Hi,
After all the discussion about the Toshiba e800 on this forum I did some
investigating. It does look like a very interesting Pocket PC. Besides the
large (4" vs. 3.5" or 3.8") high resolution (480x640 vs. 240x320) screen, it
also has both CF and SD card slots and a very, very large optional...

FIRST MOTOR GLIDER ? by

The May '04 of the Smithsonian's Air & Space magazine carries an interesting
article on the development of the QT-2 "spy plane" in the late 60s during the
Vietnam War.
The prototype test airplane was a Schweitzer 2-32 on which a Continental 0-200
engine was mounted on top of the fuselage behind...
