new computer problems by
Dan Rihn
I recently got a new laptop that doesn't have a com port.
How can I communicate with my Volkslogger using the USB port?
I have a USB cable that has a com port end on it but I can't get the
VL to use the USB port.
Thanks
Dan Rihn

Vernal Equinox by
John Shelton
Today, in celebration of the arrival of the Vernal Equinox, I am going to
make a sacrifice in a pagan rite that goes back into prehistoric times. I
have chosen for the sacrificial victims a steer and a potato (hamburger and
fries). Tomorrow, I am going to fly my sailplane for the first time of...

electric pump & inflatable seat cushon by
Udo Rumpf
Hi all,
due to premature aging, I need some help getting out of the cockpit
of the ASW24. Those that fly this type of fuselage know how deep it is
and it is not very easy to get out of it.
I would like a small high volume (small) electric pump and an inflatable
cushion that would help raise the...

Volkslogger woes by
Dan Rihn
Anybody have any tips on using the Volkslogger?
I have found the manual to be very lacking, the three buttons very
clumsy and the logic is terrible.
I'm trying to up load tasksand turnpoints, and be sure that I've
declared the task correctly.
Whe I ask for help at the gliderport I watch others...

Mobile SeeYou & Winpilot by
Ian Molesworth
I find it quite surprising that quite a few people posting to the MCU forum
are passing comments about dropping WinPilot in favour of MCU. From what I
gather these people already own a very capable moving map and final glide
calculation package in WinPilot and most will have laid out...

HELP. I need a TRUE story for television by Monday by
John Shelton
Fellow soarists,
I did not make myself clear. My apologies.
The production company is not making a slasher flick. It is trying to find
EXPEDITIONS with an element of danger that might include a survival segment.
In soaring, we have plenty of possible danger. These guys are seeking
expeditions....

New ASK-21 movie by
Tlewis95
Hi
My dad/CFIG, Curt Lewis, took some video as I was flying Windy City Soaring
Association's ASK-21 at Hinckley, IL. I edited it and added some Cheap Trick
music on to it and it turned out quite nice in my opinion.

Soaring poster in movie by
John H. Campbell
Saw the interesting flick "Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' yesterday.
In one scene, I think in the offices of the mind-eraser company Lacuna,
there is a soaring poster in the background. Looked like an overhead shot of
an ASK-21.

First Arrival at Marfa Wave Camp by
Burt Compton
First Arrival at the Marfa Wave Camp.
A car with a glider trailer slowly approached my "Marfa Gliders" hangar,
thankfully creating very little dust. I thought "here is someone who knows how
to drive on an airport!"
Noticing the New York vehicle tags, I greeted the driver and lady passenger
with...

AL-12: New ultralight sailplane by
ISoar
The US distributor of Aeros hang gliders has announced that the
Ukranian company's ultralight sailplane has had it's first flight.
This craft was built using the wing of Aero's rigid wing hang glider,
the Stalker. It was designed to be towed up by the same tugs hang
gliders use. I wonder what...

Winching-Cable danger by
Andy Davey
When I drove winches for the air cadets, we often had
problems with bits of cable flying about in the cab.
On the old Eagle winches there are 2 drums, one of
which is directly in front of the driver. If the cable
'threw a loop' then it would rattle against the totally
inadequate metal grille that...
