Discus Info Wanted by
Scott
I'm in the market for a Discus A or B and would like some input as to
what the these aircraft are worth.
If you have sold one or have one for sale I would like to hear from
you.
Also about what is the difference in price and marketability of an A
verses a B model?
Thanks

Ferry Permit? by
Mackfly
Tried to get a ferry permit from the local FSDO so we could tow a Blanik that
was one week out of annual to another airport for it's inspection. They said
they could not issure it for safety reasons! I had done it once with my
1-23H15 a few years ago. The "reason" given was because of the risk...

Ground launch and the incremental vanishing of soaring by
Mark James Boyd
I spent a good portion of the past few days looking into
auto-tow launching. After some fairly extensive
searching, I found that, as far as I can tell, nobody has
used auto-tow OR winch launch at a public airport
in four years.
LaGrange-Callaway GA (SES) used to do winch, and according to the...

Soaring sites in Palm Springs area by
Dave Kuchenbecker
I am planning a trip to Palm Springs to get some sun. I would like to
do some flying while there. Any thoughts on commercial ops in the
area where I could rent a single place.
Thanks

Bad publicity by
David Starer
I just searched on "glider" on the BBC's news web site. What I found shocked
me. Of 46 results returned for the period since May 1998, not a single one
mentioned any form of achievement whatsoever in gliding. See here for the
search...

canopy cover material? by
ken ward
where do I find suitable material for making my own custom canopy cover?
no disrespect to those doing it commercially, but I'd rather sew one
myself. that way I know it fits exactly, where the straps are, etc.
the glider sits rigged in the California/Nevada sun and occasionally
gets rained upon. ...

Sub-gravity sensation by
Rod
I need to give a season opening briefing to all the pilots in our club next
week and naturally want to highlight safety issues. During preparation for
this meeting I've come across an accident report that attributed the cause
of the fatal accident to "Sub-gravity Sensation". There appears to be a...

2-32 Speeds? by
John Seaborn
The SGS 2-32 has two categories of critical speeds, the "High
Performance" and "Utility" depending on gross weight.
Looking through the flight manual I see that at 1430lb max gross
Utility Category stall is estimated at 47mph. Red Line in this
category is 139 mph. What I do not see is the Caution...
