my radio transmission of my DG400 becomes weaker
One of the causes could be the microphone element.

GMRS Radios by
Gary Evans
These FM radios are now available with up to 3 watts
output and 7 miles range on the ground. They require
registration and fee but there is no test requirement.
Is anyone using them in the air and if so what is the
operating range and usefulness?

Looking for Gliding Clubs by
Steve Hopkins
I have seen the SSA listings of Gliding clubs in the
USA but I would be interested in hearing the opinions
of those who fly at these sites. I'm looking for a
site which is relatively free of Controlled Airspace,
with good cross country prospects and all year round
soaring, possibly with a mix of...

18m polar curve by
Alan Irving
Can anyone supply a polar curve for a current 18m sailplane?
Ideally the Ventus 2cxT, although Schempp-Hirth polars
seem to be unobtainable.
I already have the Dick Johnson review of the ASH-26E,
so will use the polar from that if all else fails.
That said, if anyone has a curve for a...

I don't know what the Germans are up to on their homepage www.segelflug.de,
but apparently some sort of competition for the future pictogram for
off-field landings.

Radio advice - newbie by
Roger Worden
I'm a student pilot, and it's about time for me to get a radio. For general
soaring purposes, what's a decent handheld? I really know nothing about
them. Is the Sporty's SP-200 a good choice?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
if you have a sketch, drawing or detailed photos of an ASW 20 mixer.
I would like to have a copy. Better still, if you have a unit that I could borrow

come to an arrangement

FS: SGS 1-35 Wings by
Michael
From a SGS 1-35 retractable gear and with wing tanks. The pilot who last flew
it put the flaps up instead of down on final and did not correct until he ran
out of runway. Rolled into a marsh and flipped it over forward on the T-tail
snapping the rear spar in the vertical stabilizer. The wings...

Thermal Maximizer by
Ted Hauser
What experience has anyone had with thermal maximizers
such a Winpilot Pro, SN10, or Thermi?
Are they helpful in locating the core? The question
regards locating the center not locating the thermal.
There has already been a thread started about thermal
locators.

The "Complex" TAS calculation by
Arnold Pieper
Although TAS is not as useful for glider pilots, as IAS and GS, some recent
posts seem to sugget that TAS is not a clear concept for many pilots.
Some people even consider it a "Sophisticated calculation", which is really
astonishing.
The advent of GPSs with the easy read out of Ground Speed has...

SN 10 Display problem by
Steve B
The display on the SN10 has horizontal lines across the bottom 20% of
the screen.
I think it is probably the contacts between the display and the unit.
I was curious if it is possible to get access to the contacts for the
display to clean them?
Thanks

FS: Blanik L-13 Wings and tail feahers by
Burt Compton
"Rocketman" Bill has a set of wings south of Miami near Homestead, FL.
Call his cellphone at 305-753-6058.
Yep, this is the guy that worked on the jet launched L-13 that never flew, as
the thrust was not as advertised.
