Transponder Antenna Placement Fuselage Bottom - Minimize Damage?Exact Location by
WaltWX[_2_]
Planning on install of a Trig T22 on my Discus 2A. I see that SH recommends installation on bottom of fuselage near gear door canted off at an angle:

Any recommendations from experience on exactly where to place a stub antenna in such...

Mark Palmer
Hi all,
I have two classic Winter barographs for sale. One is in good condition one is in excellent condition. They haven't been calibrated in years obviously.. I'm not even sure how much to ask for them. I realize just about everything is electronic these days but for fun or for flight schools...

Split Scimitar Winglets by
[email protected]
I'm sure I'm way behind on this, but yesterday I flew on a new 737-800 with "Split Scimitar" winglets. One airline claimed 3% fuel savings. That seems optimistic to me, but every little bit helps. Is anybody working on adaptations for gliders?

Request for article by
Ian Glenn
Hi there,
I'm not a glider pilot but I am a PhD student in meteorology. I study how clouds form and it seems that the glider community has a lot of knowledge in that area.
There is one article in particular I am seeking that may be directly related to my research. I can't find it for free and I...

Add on rating review Williams Soaring by
[email protected]
I ended up getting my add on glider rating at Williams Soaring. For all the frustration my local club has caused me, earning the add on was easier than a solo check out with my club (Evergreen Soaring at KAWO), not an exaggeration.
I think it took 12 flights or so before I was ready for the...

BoingBoing by

BoingBoing has a story on the 1990 utopian novel Pacific Edge. The cover features a glider (with winglets). Does anyone know the story behind the cover?

Five by
Tango Eight
That's the number of guys in my club that have committed to knocking out their CFIGs in 2015.
I was earnestly hoping that the number wasn't going to be "one", leaning very heavily on my club President and our board to try to make that number at least "three" and darned if I didn't get the phone...

I have on my dining room table, my Cambridge '302' and I noticed the other day that on the side of the instrument it is marked "301/302".
What was a 301 intended to be? Anyone have any history of its development?
Thx

"All-terrain" main wheel dolly by
Bastoune
All - I am looking for an "all-terrain" wheel dolly for a 15M glider main wheel. I am familiar with the GoJack type products (http://www.zendextool.com/gojak/ ) but unfortunately, the size of the casters will not handle gravel surface. Tires will probably have to be 10" pneumatic to do the job on...

I found this article by Tijl Schmelzer very interesting, about the planning and execution of his recent 100km triangle African speed record that was just over 200 km/hr. Impressive!

Looks certainly scary and probably not optimal.
his result for day 5 wasn't very good, 111 km/h against 138 for the winner.
