World's Funniest OLC comments? by
[email protected]
Not since Pez D. Spencer have I found much in the way of humor in the gliding world. I am willing to bet there is some good content in the OLC database, whether it be the result of mild hypoxia or genuine comedic talent, let's hear about it! (yeah, it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere)

Calling a Good Task by
Brad Alston
All of this banter about classes, and what's fair or not for a class, leads me to a couple of questions. Now, please understand that I am not a competition pilot so forgive if I sound a bit naive. I have been doing a little online research but don't find a lot of information...or I'm looking in the...

Importing a used glider from Europe? by
Terry Pitts
All,
I've been looking at the adds at Wings and Wheels for the last year. I've often looked at ads here in Europe and thought, "Why can't I find this XYZ be in the US?" The sudden "ah ha!" moment came yesterday as I was looking at ads on Tim's website and saw a glider with German...

Number of aero tows in 2011 by
Bill D
I'm working on some numbers for SSA Growth and Development. I need a SWAG as to how many aero tows were made in the US in 2011. Anyone care to guess?
I know there are about 210 tugs, some more active than others. If each made 20 tows a week, 52 weeks a year, that would be 218,000 tows but I...

V2 pna support - not LK8000 by
cuflyer
Just got a V2. Hoping to get WP installed on it. Yes, I read 711's posts.
Where is support for the PNA itself? Mine does not recognize, or show any indication of the SD card.
Thx,
Tim

Cobra Trailer Screw Jack by
JS
Old thread, remembered when the problem arose here.
Recently flew Misti's Libelle and found the Y2K Cobra screw-type ramp jack to be almost unusable, even without that heavy fuselage on it.
No cleaning... A couple of short bursts of Tri Flow bicycle chain lube, run it up and down and it works...

ADS-B out with a non TSO'd 1201 GPS sensor? by
[email protected]
How does a FAA radar confirm if a non TSO'd GPS is connected to a mode S, ADS-B out transponder?
Wonder if we'll soon see a transponder, ELT,or perhaps PowerFLARM offer an option to include a TSO'd 1201 WAAS/GPS sensor board?
OK, so the transponder costs $2,300 and a TSO'd 1201 WAAS/GPS sensor...

Lange TE system by
John Galloway[_1_]
An excellent article by Pete Harvey regarding flying the
Antares 23 at Uvalde WGC includes the following:
"One of the most surprising factors was the Lange total
energy system. In Texas, the thermals were fast bubbles of
strong lift - fast, but very small. With our high cruise speeds,
it was...

There wasn't sufficient lift to get away from a 1,400' AGL auto tow, but,

drinking, etc.
Here's a video taken by a camera mounted to the wingtip of my...

Which FlywithCE position recorder in the US? by
Tony[_5_]
There are two versions of the FlywithCE, 100 and 300. 100 is the original white version which I proudly own. A few guys in our club have 300's, the newer black case with built in USB and battery.
The FlywithCE website says that the 300 is approved in the US as a Position Recorder and the 100 is...

I am looking for my first glider. Someone has a glider for sale that was built in the 70's. He sanded the old gelcoat and painted over it with poly.
Are there any major potential problems with that?
