Alternative to welding aluminum frame of Komet? by
Bruno
I just noticed that a few of the welds on the top aluminum framework
of my Komet trailer have broken. Maybe I am just lazy but I am
concerned about getting the welds redone with the fiberglass top right
next to it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good bonding agent
to use on the broken...

Hello,
I am adding some missing CAI302 sentences to the LK8000 free software I am developing, and from Cambridge specs I can't understand what is the difference between "true altitude" sent from a !w,xxx, xxx,xx etc sentence and the $PCAID barometer altitude.
I understood that the...

Mena, Arkansas - Wave Camp by
Randy[_2_]
I am looking for pilots who participated in the Mena, AR Wave
during the 1970's. I would like to hear their stories and see if
they have any pictures.
I talked to one pilot who on 11-27-1975 climbed to just over
17,000 feet. He took a tow to 5,000 ft but did reach the wave
lift around 2,500 ft....

Flyinf in the USA. by
Bruce
I know this has been beaten to death before - but my news provider drops
the archive. So -
I will be visiting the USA for a month or so in mid 2010 - June and
July. Presumably I need to get on with applying for recognition of my
ICAO license? But where to start.
Have friends in Washington and...

Dr. Jack and BLIPmaps by
brianDG303[_2_]
Recently I decided to start becoming proficient in the use of Dr.
Jack's BLIPmaps but read on his site (quote) "the bottom line is
probable termination of this website a year from now." So that took
the wind out of my sails. How are those of you who understand the
BLIPMAP system planning on coping...

Cobra skin/rib bonding stuff by
Brad[_2_]
Anyone know what the stuff is that Cobra uses to bond the aluminum
ribs and skin with?
I am in the design phase of a clamshell top and I would like to bond
the skin/ribs, with a few chicken rivets in strategic places.

Latch for a Karl Pfeifer trailer by
David Walsh[_2_]
Group,
I have a Karl Pfeifer trailer which is missing one of the two latches
on the front access hatch. The latch has a little nub for your index
finger, and a plunger you depress with your thumb. Ideally, I'd like
a replacement that matches the existing bolt hole pattern, and just
bolts on...

I know this subject has been discussed here before, but searchability

Getting to be winter time here in the northern hemisphere so we need
something to talk about anyway.

Effect of weight on the Polar by
Pawnee Pilot[_2_]
If I have 2 polars for the same glider, say at 28kg/m2 vs 43kg/m2,
the polar for the heavier glider is displaced to the right and down.
Applying the square root of the ratio of the wing loading, ie sqrt
(43/28), would give the higher speed for the increased loading, what
is displacing the polar...
