Max Tow Weight and Rope Strength by
150flivver
Suppose your tow plane has a placard that says "Max Glider or Banner
Weight: 1000 lbs." You are going to tow a glider with a max gross
weight of 1000 pounds. Are you supposed to limit the tensile strength
of the tow rope used to 1000 lbs? The regulation specifies that the
tow rope should be no...

NIMH batteries - slightly OT by
Martin Gregorie[_4_]
In the middle of last year I bought a digital SLR that runs on 4 x AA
cells. The instructions say that alkalines are OK for checking the
camera, etc, but 2400 mAh NiMH are the preferred option for normal use.
However, I've yet to find a 2400 mAh cell that, according to my chargers,
can hold...

Charlie Spratt by
[email protected]
I can barely remember a time in my life when I didn't know Charlie
Spratt.
To me he was such an integral part of the Soaring World, it certainly
never seemed right at a contest if he wasn't running the gate. He is
a huge part of the incredibly varied personalities that to me mean
Soaring. He will...

Les Sparks and the Woodstock homepage? by
[email protected]
The "unofficial woodstock homepage" has been out of service for a
while now. I'm wondering if Les still has the files and might allow
me to revive it. If Les isn't reading RAS perhaps someone out there
can hook me up with him.
Thanks,
Matt Michael

OLC question by
Sam Discusflyer[_2_]
Looking at April 11th, some flights have # positions and others do not. The
ones without a # are also faded.
Can anyone explain?
Thanks SAM

gone. The...

nimbus
Hello,
I am new joiner on Linux and I tried KFLOG software. Unfortunately,
this software has obsolete data files and has not been updated since
years.
Another one is GPLIGC, but this one is difficult to install
(especially the stuff named Perl-KT).
How are linux users (lovers?) reading and...

Unusual banner tow by
Ralph Jones[_2_]
Saw an odd airplane towing a banner over downtown Denver today. It was
a biplane, with a higher aspect ratio than I've ever seen on such a
machine. And the leading edges were swept over about the outer third
of the span...it looked for all the world like two Discus wings
grafted onto a Jungmeister...

I need a fiberglass panel for the interior of my Std Cirrus. It is
the piece that goes behind the pilot's shoulders and has the seat
belts running through it. This is merely a trim piece. If anyone has

Grob 109 wing pins by
Bob Jenneson
Hi,
I am seeking advise on the replacement of the wing pins fitted in the
end of the spars on Grob 109 and 109B.
This also applies to the Grob Twin Astir.
A brief history.
These pins are welded to a plate that is glassed into the wing spar end
during manufacture. It was found out at a later...
