What to use to make a mold? by
AK
I want to make a small mold I would later use to create a fiberglass
container to hold lead weight. It would be nice if mold material can
withstand 500 degrees Fahrenheit so I can pour lead into it and then
cover it by fiberglass. Alternatively I would use the mold to create a
fiberglass container...

Zaon MRX causing radio interference by
[email protected]
With my new Zaon MRX PCAS mounted on top of my glare shield, I've been
experiencing some radio interference and linked this to the MRX: the
radio gives white-noise static -- like the squelch is not properly
adusted. When I turn the MRX off it goes away.
I've heard putting a "ferrite core" around...

years winners.
Checked with Hannes Linke about it, and this is the message he sent...
Unfortunately, the rumors you have heard, are correct.
The winners...

Bending Plexiglass by
Tony Condon[_2_]
I need to make a new section of the canopy on the Cherokee. Its a pretty
simple bend, not really a compound curve or anything. But I dont know
anything about how to do it. I suspect that I need to heat the plexi up
and then weight it to bend, repeat as necessary? Im sure that several of
us have...

Keeping mylar straight by
BravoNiner
Some years ago I saw a magazine article (or reflector post) containing
some advice on what seemed a very simple means for keeping everything
absolutely straight in the spanwise direction when replacing mylar
seals. For the life of me, I cannot now find that information (which
I recall -- although...

I'm making a membership and fundraising Keynote presentation for the

cockpit shot of a pegged-up vario, with audio. Can anyone help me?
P.S. You can also help by joining and/or contributing to NSM. Many of

club resources by
Brad[_2_]
When a soaring club provides towplanes to a regional or national
contest, how is a club typically compensated for loaning out their
equipment, or are they?
Is a contest and the use of a club towplane by non-club members seen
as a "commercial" operation? And if so, does the towplane need a 100
hour...

Removing tape residue from canopy by
BravoNiner
Time to replace some yaw strings. Can anyone recommend a good way to
remove old tape residue without doing violence to the canopies?
Thanks,

Cal City Wave Camp a Success! by
Michael Reid
I wanted to extend a big thanks to everyone at Cal City and Caracole
soaring for a successful wave day on Saturday. The front that pushed
through southern California this weekend provided thermals to 9000'
and wave as high as 24,000'. And from the sound of things on the
radio, Warner Springs had...

Commercial vs Private, towing by
150flivver
I seem to recall being told the FAA had exempted towing gliders from
the need for a commercial license as long as no monetary compensation
is received by the private pilot tow pilot. Is this still true or is
flight time alone considered compensation as it is in the rest of the
powered flight realm?

motorgliders as towplanes by
Brad[_2_]
I know this has come up before in RAS. But thought I would bring up
the subject again.
For a club looking at long term projections, which at some point will
include either sticking a "new" engine on a Pawnee or getting rid of
it, does it make sense to start evaluating getting a 2 place
motorglider...
