2K Paint Option on S-H Ventus? by
V1
I'm buying a new Ventus from the factory, and considering the pro's
and con's of their "Special 2K-painting" option, which is about 3000
Euro. Would like to hear any real-world experience that other pilots
have.
From discussions with the dealer and some on-line research, the 2K
paint (a...

* water and bladders - 12 messages, 12 authors by
Peter Smith
My father was twice national soaring champion & flew in 3 world
contests. Whenever he flew as a passenger, he got airsick.
Me, I'm a lousy glider pilot, but I never get airsick.
Go figure.

what features are in the next generation of flight computers by
Peter
I've been daydreaming about flight computers...
Not the ones we have now, but the next generation... I haven't seen any
significant step changes in the functions the current generation
provide...
So I started day dreaming... and I came up with a wish-list, (now some of
these are obviously...

tow hook limitation question by
Chris
Our club is looking at new tow plane. The plane has a Schweizer tow
hook with "1200 lbs max" stamped on it.
Does anybody know what that relates to?
Is this the max gross weight of the glider or max tow tension or...?
I've tried Schweizer, but they couldn't help since they are no longer
making tow...

how much for auto-tow gear? by
Johan Larson
So far, all of my glider launches have been by aero-tow. I would like to
broaden my experience a bit, and try some sort of ground launch. I'm trying
to interest my club here in San Francisco in trying auto-towing one
weekend. How much should we expect to spend on the gear? It basically comes...

Antenna and Coax Length by
ContestID67
I have a question for this august body.
I found a link on the 1-26 associations web site talking about the
proper length of an antenna for operation at 123.3Mhz. This turns out
to be;
1/4 wave Length: 0.61 m or 23.95 in
3/4 wave Length: 1.82 m or 71.84 in
I was curious about the length...

Which GRP single-seater has the lowest cockpit weight? by
Dan G
A friend of mine weighs just 110lbs with parachute. With ballast, she
can fly some K13s and a couple of wooden single-seaters which have
particularly low cockpit min weights.
Which GRP single-seaters tend to have low min weights, and how much is
it?

transponders in EU by
Sandro
Hallo,
In Holland it looks like they are going to make Transponders mode S obligatory
on all sailplanes, starting mid 2008 (the starting date has been postponed a
couple of times already but it looks like it is really going to happen, sooner
or later).
I was wondering what is the situation in...

obscure reference to soaring in a movie by

The movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" includes no soaring
and no gliders, but in one scene there is a _picture_ of a sailplane
hanging on the wall.

Can anyone identify the sailplane from the picture? It's white,...
