Removing Electric Instruments in Winter . by
[email protected]
Is it true or just an "old wives tale " ?
For several years now I've removed all the instruments with liquid
crystal displays ( LCD's) from my sailplane on the advice I got from an
"expert " some years ago . I was told that if you store the glider with
instruments in an outside hangar where the...

scanner and Photoshop skills? by
[email protected]
You may recall that some weeks ago I put on the web the text of two
articles from way back in 1967, when three mainstream magazines ran
stories about soaring. I just received a copy of the third magazine,
National Geographic, and the article is wonderful. I can't wait to put
it on the web. The...

Any thoughts on Garmin GPSmap 96? by
fbrahic
I'm considering buying a GPSmap 96 or 76s as my starter GPS. It will be
used exclusively for soaring, initially, near my home airport of
Hollister, CA and later for developing my cross country skills.
Does anyone have a GPSmap 96? If so, could you share some thoughts on
using it as a navigational...

Mike
Is there one? If not is there any interest? I have just purchased a
DG-100G and think it would be a great way to share (gain in my case)
knowledge and information.

Only six US OLC flight claims? by
Mike the Strike
On posting my short cross-country flight to the OLC yesterday, I noted
only six claimed for the whole of North America. I find this a bit on
the low side (the whole population of the USA can't have been full of
turkey and out shopping). Did no-one fly yesterday, or are the OLC
posting problems...

Pipistrel Kit Aircraft now FAA 51% Accepted by
Juan Jimenez
The NTSB has issued a decision on the case I mentioned here. The
administrative law judge had previously refused to revoke the part 135
certificates of the two operators and instead issued an indefinite
suspension. The FAA appealed and argued for a permanent revocation, the
respondents argued...

Argentina - Klaus Ohlman DVD by
Paul Remde
Hi,
I need a little help from someone that owns the film about Klaus Ohlman's
adventures soaring in Argentina. The title of the film is "Argentina". I
want to own a copy for myself and to sell it on my web site. I know that
Tom Knauff sells it, so there is no need to tell me that. I'm...

Aircraft Instrument Books? by
jcarlyle
Does anyone know if there are (or have been) any books written about
aircraft instrumentation? I recall reading short blurbs in biographies
of Sperry and Kollsman about the instruments they invented, but I've
never seen a book entirely devoted to aircraft instrumentation (with
details on how they...

What's up with the Sparrowhawk? by
Brad
Not heard anything lately about the Sparrowhawk. I did hear a rumor
that their chief assembler quit, and there are other bits floating
around that pique the interest.
It's sad if they do/did go "out of business" It was exciting to see
someone with balls finally get a sailplane company started here...

Where is the Matteson M-1? by
Steve Leonard
Well, my friend said 'I had it, but gave it away years
ago. Not sure where it went.'
So, here is what I would do. Visit:
http://www.faa.gov/licenses%5Fcertificates/aircraft%5Fcertificatio
n/aircraft%5Fregistry/
The link will probably not come over complete, so you
will need to finish it up.
