Crappy Gliders Rejoice! by
Nick Thomas
OLC does not require expensive IGC-approved loggers.
Garmin GPSMAP 76S on eBay, ~$200 or less.
Besides, your club can use the help. ;)
The Garmin is only good for the classic, not the triangles
or club comp. It would be nice if we could all agree
that the Garmins etc. could be used for the...

Bizjet protocol by
JS
Perhaps a change for the better...
Flying in the Sierras with some friends from Tehachapi, California
City and Minden, we were treated to a radio transmission on 123.3
(perhaps repeated on 5) from a jet descending through 19,000 into
Carson City:
"...Anyone on the Pine Nuts?"
The jet pilot must...

Folks I was at Region 3, and I have to say that Tim
Hanke and his staff did a fantastic job organizing
and I must thank all involved. You guys were great!
The Folks running the FBO were way out of line the

Grob wing retainer bearings by
Tim
The aft wing locks on my Grob G102 are just about at their limits and it
looks like I will be installing oversize bearings to correct this. Does
anyone have experience doing this and if so, how difficult of a job is it?

Region 3 Contest at new airport? by
Stewart Kissel
I read a mention from a Tom Knauff newsletter, and
the saw a description on the SSA racing tab. Sounds
like a first, a contest getting booted.

Forget Dying; Is Soaring Dead? by
[email protected]
Only 21 planes on the grid at storied Uvalde, TX for the U.S. Std.
Class Nationals, even with three non-U.S. guests. This was apparently
Uvalde's smallest contest of any kind, including regionals, and smaller
even than most U.S. regionals.
A "get your entries in while they're still available!"...

SGS 2-32 rear stick and CG hook? by
Gary Boggs
I bought 2-32 without a rear stick. If anybody has an extra stick they want
to sell me, or if anybody could trace the shape of their rear stick and send
it to me I would really appreciate it.
I would also like to eventually put a CG hook in my 2-32, does anybody out
there have drawings for a...

Double (or more) posting by
flying_monkey
I'm wondering if the number of multiple postings of the same message
are caused by some kind of system error. Or is it simply caused by
people who post a message, then go to look to see if it came out right,
don't see it, and post it again. I kind of doubt this latter, because
the messages are...

Midair near Minden by
Fred
What soaring pilots have been talking about for some time has happened.
Yesterday, in startling clear weather, with visibility measured in
dozens of miles or more, a Hawker jet ran into a sailplane at about
13,500' (5,000' AGL or more) some 10 miles east of Minden airport. The
sailplane pilot had...
