Infrequent flying & IFR currency by
Marty Ross
"Infrequent flying & IFR currency" - sounds like an oxymoron, I know.
I'm limiting my flying now due to lack of income (anyone have work for a
software developer?), yet would like to try to maintain my (recently
acquired) IFR currency.
I guess my best bet is to beg/borrow/steal/hire a safety...

Lightspeed with Foggles question by
Rod Madsen
I just bought the Hood Lamb and had to send them back. They simply would
not clamp to my David Clark H10-13.4 which have a narrower than usual band.
To their credit, they acknowledge this problem with DC's and suggest
friction tape to increase the girth of the band. Didn't work...to
rinky-dink...

Registering foreign planes in US by
Eclipsme
What is required to get an 'N' number for a foreign (to the US) registered
plane? Does sit matter where the plane is currently registered? Does the
plane have to be in the US currently?
Thanks,
Harvey

ASA OnTop 8 Pedal Problem by
Kevin
My OnTop 8 is over-responding to my CH pedal input. The pedal input =
moves the sim plane way more than my input and just a little step on the =
pedals, the plane would immediately yaw and then roll the plane into a =
40 - 50 degree blank angle.=20
Anybody knows how to adjust the input level of...

How much turbulence is too much? by
Marty Ross
In reviewing the Warrior II's performance numbers in preparation for my
recent trip across California, I realized that Va would be much lower than I
had always considered it (given that it's just me inside, with gas burning
off towards reserve only). The Va that's written on my lapboard is...

Boom mounted O2 cannula by
Viperdoc
I seem to remember seeing a nasal cannula that clipped to a microphone boom?
The usual loop around the ears models interfere with the anr headsets and
are a pain to put on.
Thanks.

Got my Instrument Rating! by
Jazzy_Pilot
I just wanted to share with a group of people that would understand what I'm
feeling right now, since I just received my Instrument Rating this past
Saturday morning! (8/16/03) The guys at work just don't understand and it's
hard to explain it to them, but I'm sure most of you know how I...

GPS SUbstitute for DME or ADF by
S. Ramirez
Someone in another forum said that it's okay to substitute certified GPS for
DME or ADF on an approach plate that depicts FAFs or intersecting points
using DME or ADF. I asked that person to back it up with a reference from
an official document like the FARs, AIM or something that the FAA puts...

Another difference between the US and Canada. by
Roger Halstead
I had a friend ask me today how I'd cancel a flight plane that I had
never activated.
I gave the usual answer...If I never activated it, I don't need to
cancel it. If I haven't activated it past the closing time it gets
dropped. Canceling one that has been activated and flown is
*usually* not a...

Need Info - Flying to Calgary (CYYC) by

I'm planning on flying into Calgary next month for a few days. I'll go IFR
and have the Canadian charts, maps, etc., have Customs info, but a few
questions remain.
(1) Airways or Direct crossing border?
My US(LO) 17 and 7 show only two Victor airways ... V-181 HML to YWG going

cancelled IFR to help the guy behind me, did a visual descent and landed
on the green dot.
2. Vectored for the ILS 24(?) at Muskegeon, descended on the glide...

Precession of 10 degrees in 10 minutes too much? by
Jay Moreland
I need to find out if there is an official maximum amount of precession
for a Directional Gyro. My aircraft precesses 10 degrees in 10 minutes
during mostly straight and level flight with only a few shallow banks.
One avionics tech told me that it depends on the gyro manufacturer as to
what is...

Surface to Air Missile threat by

The FBI has arrested three men in connection with a plot to smuggle a
surface to air missile into the United States.
You do understand what a successful strike with a surface-to-air missile
would do, don't you? Not only would it kill the 100+ people who happened to
be on the targeted airliner, it...

Instrument Rated by

I just wanted to mention that I passed my IFR flight test this

lot of fun.
Thank you to everyone in this group for your contributions, which
helped me develop more background knowledge of IFR flight than I could
otherwise have...
