OT politics by
Chris W
Every now and then some fairly interesting political discussion happens
here, I have a question for those who like to participate in that
discussion. Where is a good forum for that kind of discussion?
I am considering putting up a political web site that mostly will
involve people in, or running...

commercial low-flight safety by
gatt[_2_]
Some duck hunters want to hire me to overfly a network of ponds in Oregon so
that they can scout the hunting range ahead of the season, with the request
that they want to "get down low."
Based on the terrain and the shape of the ponds, it would be easy to set it
up like a basic closed-traffic...

All I wanted to do is try to fly on a 747!!! by

Hi Everyone,
All I wanted to try to do is attempt to find a flight aboard a 747 without
going to far to do so. I really didn't realize it would be such a battle to
go through to find one. Wow!! Ultimately a posting by a James Robinson
ended my search and HOPEFULLY will end the battles that I...

Max Service ceiling for commercial airplanes by
[email protected]
Out of curiosity I was wondering which civilian passenger airplanes
have the highest service ceilings? Wikipedia indicates that some
business jets have ceilings greater than 53000 ft or so while the 747
has only 43000 ft. Also why do large aircraft fly much lower than
their service ceilings?...

PIREP: New Airport Restaurant at Janesville, WI (JVL) by
Jay Honeck[_2_]
Mary and I were able to fly to Janesville, WI today, on this bitterly cold
January day, (temperatures here dropped 50 degrees in 24 hours!) to sample
the new on-field restaurant, "Kealys".
It was worth the trip, despite the ice-covered ramp and -24 degree wind
chill.
Kealys occupies the same...

Just curious: Water landing question by
es330td
What kind of space does it take to land/takeoff in a plane with
floats? I realize there are all sorts of rules about where one can do
this but I have a relative with a ranch that has a fairly decent sized
body of water on it. This is Texas, so its pretty flat with neglible
trees and I wondered if...

I'm taking some conservationists up tomorrow for SouthWings to document
polluters and illegal loggers around the southern MS-LA border. Last year we
managed to convince Wal-Mart and Home Depot that the cypress mulch they were
selling came from illegal loggers and millers and they stopped buying...
