AOPA Propaganda, cont. by
Skylune
AOPA said: "Already more than 18,550 pilots, an unprecedented number, have
spoken out against making the ADIZ permanent around Washington and against
allowing ADIZs to metastasize to other Class B airspace."
Truth squad: The overwhelming majority of comments do seem to come from

I'm just curious as to what people are paying around the country. Much

Accidents by
Big John
The damn things weigh half a million pounds, fly a third of the way
around the world and they carry passengers in greater comfort and
safety than any vehicle in the history of mankind. Now, are you fellas
really going to stand there and tell us you know how to do the job
better? Are you going to...

Info Request - Lake Havasu City, AZ (KHII) by
Jay Beckman
Just picking the collective brain:
Anyone been here recently...?
Any tips, traps or suggestions?
Not intending to hang out there for long...just tossing darts at the map and
it looked like a good destination for an out and back XC in a 172SP.
North/West route going (P19-KPHX-AVENT-DRK-EED-KHII)...

One Six Right by
Paul Tomblin
My copy of the movie One Six Right just came last night and I've watched
it twice already. Man, it's beautiful. Possibly the best movie ever made
about flying and the love of flying.

FAA regulates competition by
Robert M. Gary
A Dr friend of mine mentioned that he tried to apply as an AME with the
local FSDO and was told "we already have enough AME's go away". As a
capitalist, that really bothered me. Under what authority does the FAA
regulate the supply of AMEs? Certainly we can all understand that the
FAA must put...

GA in Jamaica? by
Barry
Do any of you know if it's possible to rent a light airplane, or just go up
with a CFI, in Jamaica? If so, where? I'm going there at the end of the
month and it would be fun to do some flying.

Two Stories of Doing The Right Thing

You need to read all of this, especially if you are from Chicago
or ever travel by plane to Chicago.
Story Number One:
Many years ago, Al Capone virtually owned Chicago.
Capone wasn't famous for anything heroic. He was...

plane noise = no bell ringers by
daffy
Something is missing from Newark, California shopping
centers this holiday season, the Salvation Army bell
ringers. They just can't hack the constant sound of
small plane noise all day long.
Even when they ring their bells loud and long, the
noise from the planes drowns out the bells.
Other...

Using airplane/helicopter in construction business by
Flyingmonk
I have been in the construction business for many years and I was
wondering if any pilots here write off their flights for business.
I've seen a few of our posters in here posting in cunstruction forums,
but never mentioned aircraft use in there.

Laser Pointer as Signal Device? by
Jay Honeck
With the days growing shorter, and the temperatures nipping at the freezing
level, we're starting to assemble our "survival kit" that we always keep in
the back of our aircraft in winter.
All this talk about idiots shining lasers in pilots eyes has me wondering if
we shouldn't add a laser pointer...
