Oshkosh Photo Album by
Andrew Sarangan
Everyone has been posting their Oshkosh photos, so here is mine. I took
about 150 photos. Not all of them are great, but some of them turned out
pretty cool, especially the aerial shots of the field.

OSH '05 by
Jay Honeck
We just got back from 7 glorious days spent camped next to Atlas, at the
largest fly-in convention/air show in the world, held annually in Oshkosh,
WI.
I will have a more complete report after downloading/uploading the photos
and some unpacking, but I just have to take a few moments to express...

Thinking Outside the Box... by
john smith
Jay was lamenting the lack of small vendors on the AirVenture grounds
this year.
Here is an idea for the enterprising owner of the shopping center which
formerly was home to WalMart and PigglyWiggly...
Why not rent booth space in those empty stores to small vendors at a
reasonable rate?
It sure...

Question about Electronic Log Book by
G. Sylvester
I've been basically keeping two log books. One was the traditional pen
and paper logbook that my CFI/CFII signed. The other is electronic.
Good thing I kept the electronic one as it made figuring out the
dozen or two dozen questions about the hours the FAA has when I applied
for my IFR.
From...

Gary IN to CVG? by
Paul kgyy
Considering a flight into CVG, which is Class B and would appreciate
some insight from the group.
1. The IFR routing with STAR is very circuitous - better to file VFR?
2. Reservation required? Flight will be on Saturday.
Any other tips - FBO, etc? Piper Arrow.

Why does Rick want weather info restricted? by
JohnH
Notice the company this "donor" represents:
http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/ind_detail/MYERS|JOEL+N+DR|STATE+COLLEGE|PA|16801|ACCU+WEATHER/
Talk about a blatant bribe. Weather info you've paid for sold off for a
measly $4050.

My OSH thoughts by
Hilton
Hi,
Firstly, OSH exceeded all my expectations. Everything seemed to run
flawlessly, traffic was minimal, the variety of aircraft, engines, and
pilots was astounding. I could go on, but good job EAA!
But next time, please have a better food selection and kettle corn! :)

ASRS/ASAP reporting systems - how confidential? by

Many people have hailed the implementaiton of NASA's 'Aviation Safety

confidential means of reporting aviation safety related incidents that would
otherwise go unreported, due to the fear of consequences relating to...

PIREP: Tablet PC in the Cockpit by

I posted a while back that I have given up my long-time (OK, "relatively"
long-time) subscription to Jeppesen in lieu of Sporty's IFR ChartViewer.
Just to recap, I can get a year-long subscription to the ChartViewer and get
every approach, departure, arrival, minimums, etc. that are printed in...

Air France Flt 358 vs. thunderstorms by
[email protected]
I've read several reports online re the Air France crash at Toronto
that there were thunderstorms in the vicinity (one account said "right
over the airport") If so I'm curious why the captain didn't divert or
hold away from the storm until it passed (fuel status?). If there was a
storm nearby that...

Chills, spills, and bozos at Oshkosh arrival by
[email protected]
My friend Lee and I sat along runway 18 on Sunday as the arrivals come
into Oshkosh. Many pilots did a great job, but there were some notable
exceptions:
Chills: A Pitts snuck in under a Cessna on 18R, and the Cessna almost
lost its tail to the prop of the Pitts. The controller kept telling
the...

XM Weather for laptops? by
Morgans
A friend has a laptop that he uses with a GPS moving map. I can't remember
what program he uses, but he would like to be able to overlay weather on his
existing program. Anyone know how to do that?
