Here we go again by
Roger
Sorry if this shows up multiple times, but my (Charter's) news server
has gone screwey again.
We have some turf wars going on and it looks like the pilots may be
the losers.
First: we have a small airport with two runways 18/36 at 3000' X 75
and 06/24 at 3800' X 75. No scheduled flights or...

trying to get 125 planes registered to attend by May 1st to help cover
expenses and insurance.
There are a number of free registrations ($50 value) available if...

Getting used to the Arrow...and I like it...a lot! by
Jack Allison
To date I have a whopping 8 hours in the Arrow. The last 2.9 were by
far the most fun since the two flights involved maneuvers and landings
(lots of landings). The more I get to fly N2104T, the more I like it.
Things are becoming more and more comfortable and familiar. Still have
lots to learn...

EAA Board of Directors by
RST Engineering
Thanks to the 300+ of you all that put your ink signature on the line and
nominated me for the EAA Board of Directors. I'm on the ballot.
Here's the reality. There will be 300 to 500 members at the meeting on the
Saturday of Oshkosh week to elect the new directors. The EAA holds some
35,000...

Dallas Love Field light GA by
Dan Luke
I have a business meeting in NW Dallas next month and I'm planning on using
DAL. I'd appreciate any information from those familiar with operating light
GA aircraft there. Alternative suggestions also welcome.
Thanks,

How necessary would it be to have a pitot heater if you are flying

Compensation vs. Cost sharing? by
Mark Morissette
Hey everyone.. Since I'm in Canada, and the rules are somewhat
different here in many regards, I'm pretty sure this will remain a
relevant question with a straightforward answer, none the less.
Where exactly is the fine line between being "Compensated" for flying
(contrary to a PPL) versus "Cost...

Headset -> Camcorder audio adapter by
DK
Does anyone know of an adapter (that won't set me back big bucks) to
be able to record what I hear in my headset onto the audio input of a
video camera? I'd like to do some narration with a little better audio
quality.
I've seen the cel phone adapters that are out there, and they're
nearly as...

Why we say HITS by
jsmith
I read an article in a recent issue of BUSINESS/COMMERCIAL AVIATION.
The article discusses the current electronics flight displays and the
symbology used for course guidance.
The article "explains" why we see the acryonm for Highway-In-The-Sky
instead of the other reference, Tunnels-In-The-Sky.
The...

AnywhereWX vs. Airgator NavAirWx by
Jonathan Goodish
Thanks to all who replied to my in-flight weather questions.
I think that I've narrowed my selection down to a PDA solution using the
iPaq 4700, along with packages for XM weather an moving map from either
Control Vision (AnywhereWx) or AirGator (NavAirWx).
Detailed information on the web sites...

Garmin support (or lack thereof) by
RNR
About one month ago, I emailed Garmin tech support about a problem
that I was having updating the operating software in my 196.
Fortunately, I also posted here and I received an immediate response
which solved my problem. My concern is that I never got any response
from Garmin. Is this typical? ...

It's Official! by
W P Dixon
Well,
As of Friday I became an official student pilot! DPE got enough info from
the FAA to be ok with issuing the cert , without the medical for my sport
pilot quest.
I'll be down in SC flying Brett Jutus' Champ Saturday, should be lots of
fun. My Volksplane vertical ribs are complete in my...

Instructions for BFG Loran C by
Mike W.
Anybody own/use one of these regularly? Two of the planes in the fleet at my
flying club have them, no manuals. I had it demonstrated once, but of course
had a month or two when I didn't use it so forgot. If available online
somwhere would be awesome.
Anybody?

Garmin 430 user waypoints question by
Michael 182
Is there a simple way to program the Garmin to handle in-flight route
instructions such as :
"Pass 10 miles N of XYZ at 10,000 ft" or "Continue inbound to ABC, then the
131 radial to DEF..."
I can make user waypoints, but it seems a little slow and awkward,
especially in hard IFR. Any...

AvGas in New Hampshire has reached $3.15/gallon :) by
Cub Driver
First flight in three months! It's been a hard winter for grass strips
in New Hampshire.
My intentions were excellent, but I soon as I ran down the runway I
knew I would not be staying in the pattern and practicing landings.
Instead I toured the beaches down to Plum Island MA and returned by

Winds aloft = FD or FB? by
Andrew Sarangan
FD used to be the abbreviation for winds aloft. Aviationweather.gov had a
link called 'Winds/Temp (FD)'. Now it has been renamed to 'Winds/Temp
(FB)'. What's the deal with FD vs FB?
