Researching Airport History -- Help, please! by Jay Honeck
As many of you know, I have been working on a comprehensive history of the Iowa City Airport. This task was thrust upon me as a required adjunct to our project of saving our Boeing/United hangar -- one of just seven original air mail hangars still standing nationwide. While researching this...

Researching the JN-4 by Jabbar Thomas
Hi, folks, I am a recent film school grad writer/director working on my first feature length script that involves aviators that flew between WWI and 1926. The "CN-4 Curtiss Jenny" is the plane that I will be dealing with for the most part. My first requirement is to find someone who knows a lot...

Night solo XC? by G. Burkhart
A question to the group. Do you normally fly many night solo cross country flights? I have been going out to the local airport every couple months to do some night flying, but it's usually solo just around the patch to get night current so I can carry a passenger at night. The few times that I have...

Question about Lightspeed 3G? by kage
Can the mike be rotated so that it can be on either the right or left side of one's face? The one demo unit I looked at was new and the mike boom was already broken, so it was impossible to tell. It was kind of just dangling, without the ability to be secure in either location. Are these headsets...

FAA PPL night flight requirement - does it have to be DUAL? by Gary G
This might be nitpicky, but nothing in the AIM is a "requirement". Technically the AIM is not the law, the FAR is. Nonetheless, the AIM is incredibly important - I know. It seems subtle, doesn't it?

Leaf Peeper Pix by Jay Honeck
Yesterday was simply fabulous here in the Upper Midwest. A high pressure system dominated, resulting in cobalt-blue skies, light winds, and cool temperatures -- perfect for a leaf-peeping flight! See the pix at www.alexisparkinn.com/2004_leaf_peeper_pix.htm . We headed over to the Mississippi,...

I currently have a C182RG with the BFGoodrich Skywatch traffic avoidance system installed and displayed on a Garmin 530 and 430. Lately, I've noticed that Bogey's will sporadically disappear from the display. They may reappear or remain "undetected" even though I know that they are within...
