Reagan and AF"1" by
kage
On the topic of President Reagan.
After he ordered the Boeing 747's as new Air Force One's, his first two
rides in them were in his CASKET.

Nixon on Commercial Flight by
Flyin'[email protected]
Here is something I found...
http://www.bren.ucsb.edu/news/press/bioscience-april04.pdf
Says Nixon flew on a commercial flight to California on Dec 27, 1973. It
is on the internet, so it must be true. :-)

Are You Flying a "Beater?" by
Jay Honeck
AvWeb is reporting that "an alarming number of aircraft" are in poor
mechanical condition.
I must admit that their assessment matches my own observations. Some of the
planes I see regularly flying are almost scary -- and some of the planes
I've seen in hangars and on ramps I can only pray never...

Presidewnt reagan's Missing Man Formation by
tony
Former President Reagan's sunset burial had a dissonant note for me. The Navy
flew a missing man formation over the site, and as is traditional the second
element lead position (the airplane that would have been represented by your
ring finger tip as they flew in finger tip formation) left its...

Club rules: ownership vs. scheduling rights by
Andrew Gideon
I posted here recently that the club to which I belong in Northern NJ:
http://flyingclub.org
has some memberships available. Through an odd chain of reasoning (and
searching the 'net for comparable clubs), I came upon what I found to be an
interesting thought. But is it "good" interesting or...

Transponder causing problems for Airlines on final ???? by
Ray Bengen
There he was, holding for takeoff, ready to go, transponder alive, and he
gets bitched at by the tower for "causing problems with the airliner's nav
on final, switch transponder to standby."
Makes sense to anyone ???

Geocaching/flying by
Henry Kisor
Any pilot who's also into ground geocaching? I'm thinking about buying a new
GPS receiver to use for that purpose, but also wonder if these hikers' GPSes
can also be used for aviation, perhaps as a backup navigation instrument. (I
use an older Trimble for flying.)

Get the ATIS first, 118.05, tower is 125.7, ground 121.7, it helps if you
use approach control during the arrival but expect to be kept out of Class B
airspace if you are coming from the SW.. from the NE or E or SE you'll get
ClassB assist.. if from the SE.. then expect vectors to the approach end...

my GPS is on strike! by

I am going quietly mad. I fired up my Garmin III Plus this afternoon

360 degrees, the display never changed: the needle always pointed to
the bottom of the...

Houston'ers- EYQ or IWS? by

I'll be flying into Houston from Denver (APA) for about a week stay.
I'd rather not deal with the Class B at Hobby so am looking for a spot
to park the 206 on the north or east side of town. Relatives live
around Kirby and Hwy 59.
I'd appreciate some recommendations/preferences in terms of quality...

Redline (formerly the Beater thread) by
EDR
Interesting that many have not defined the origin of the placement of
the "red line" on the tachometer.
I don't know where to look it up, but I suspect it has something to do
with prop tip speed (as one poster mentioned).
Shorten the prop, lengthen the prop, change the pitch and you...

blundered into the DC airspace and prompted the evacuation of the capitol

get much worse than this. I hope Boyer is on top of his game today.
