Georgetown, TX - MIDAIR Collision by
Nasir
There was a midair at Georgetown yesterday. Apparently two planes were on
final and landed on top of each other. Both pilots had injuries but both
survived.
Anyone know more details on this? Was it lack of radio communication ..did
they just not announce positions or something else was...

Cessna 206H Checklist by
Bartscher
Does anyone know if there are any checklists available for the 206H (non-turbo
newer 206)? I have checked Sporty's, Avshop, etc... and they all have laminated
checklists for the older ones up to 1986 but nothing newer. I do have the
appropriate Airplane Information Manual already, which of course...

Wacky question-plane and bass!! by
Frode Berg
Hi all!
I am a co-owner of a 1968 Piper Arrow. (180 hp)
I am also a professional musician, and I play bass, both electric bass
guitar, and the big old doghouse upright bass.
Needless to say, I would like to be able to fly to my gigs whenever
possible, but fitting a double bass in a P28R seems like...

ATC clears takeoff aircraft for midair by
Joe Johnson
I'm a newly minted PP-ASEL and had a disturbing experience the other day.
I've begun renting at the field where I trained, a busy class D airport.
It's usually not possible to do pattern work there because it's so busy.
Returning from a local flight, I noticed that there was very little traffic,
so...

Lowrance Airmap 2000c by
Jeremy Lew
Looks like a competitor to the Garmin 296, and, as usual, at 2/3 the cost:

They claim terrain awareness, approach overlays, and XM radio compatibility
via software updates in the future.

McCauley Pucker Factor by
Orval Fairbairn
This past Monday, a couple of my friends took off in a Bonanza with a
3-blade McCauley prop installed. At about 1000 feet, on power
reduction, one of the blades came unhooked from its pitch change
mechanism and went into "free pitch" mode.
It apparently made a lot of racket and bad vibrations...

Small plane operators in Borneo by
Randy Farnsworth
I'm looking into taking a family vacation in Borneo Indonesia/Malaysia
to do an air tour of the island. I wrote a book that's set there and I
thought it would be nice to take the family there to "live" the
experience. We're looking at renting a small floatplane and pilot and
touring some of the...

Don't know about the distance learning but have been toNAC many times. That
speaks for itself.
Also there is a strong British influence which also helps.

Best foggles or hood w/ Headset and Glasses by
Jeff Saylor
If you are a pilot who uses both a headset and eyeglasses, what IFR
trainng device works and fits best for you? The generic foggles, like
Sporty's sells? The Jeppesen JeppShades Flip-Up hood? A particular
model of hood?

Airtankers Grounded? by
Scott G.
Has anyone else heard that all the larger airtankers were grounded for this
season? Including P-2s, P-3s, and all the DC series? Some operators and
pilots must be hurting right about now.

Thanks to those who recommended Dauphin Island, Alabama, for our flying &

wonderful. And we lucked out with the weather. Since I was asked to
provide a PIREP, here goes, in brief:
First, as regards approaching the island,...

Flap angles by
DeltaDeltaDelta
I was leafing through the C172N POH for some flap settings yesterday and a
thought occured to me: there was a post here about some verions of the 172
having different full flap angles - some have 40 and 38 degrees. So i
wonder, how do they determine these angles for all flap settings when...

The Orlando paper has run one of the WE HAVE TO IMPROVE SECURITY articles about light
