I voted, and those opposed to additional security were ahead by a huge
majority!

But I could not help noticing that the news story surrounding this "poll"
was one of the most biased and sensationalistic stories I have ever seen!

With journalism of this quality it's no surprise that 3/4 ths of America
doesn't have a clue...

Uhhhh - the reason why most of the thefts since 1999 happened *since*
Sept. 11 2001 is because that time period spans under two years before
Sept 11th, and over 2.5 years since. Do the math, brainiacs.

Currently the vote is 79% nay, 21% yea. The American people do
possess common sense after all.

This "small aircraft security" issue is unjustly being employed by the
yellow journalistic media who are attempting to use hoped-for public
hysteria toward General Aviation as a vehicle for driving public
participation in their product. The axis of evil (marketing) rears
its ugly head yet again.

I see the votes are running heavily No (more security not needed), so
I guess that means some reporter will have to work on another, juicier
story.

BTW, in our Friends of University Airport group, our president--who is
very good at working with people--took a reporter and photog from the
local newspaper up for a jaunt prior to our 2nd Annual Open House. We
got a very good writeup in the paper, and now have a contact for the
main mass media source in town. Folks, we gotta play the game....

They have a comment link on their website, so we should all respond to
it. BTW, it is not the Orlando paper, but a TV station, channel 2, which
aired the hit piece last night. It wasn't as bad as the CBS piece of
garbage, because they gave perfunctory time to Phil Boyer of AOPA,
unlike CBS, but it was STILL a hit piece!

The vote is running 858 to 210, or 4:1 AGAINSTt heir proposal.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University representative Richard Theokas.....

"Had that person's intent been to load it up with some plastic explosives
and go run it into a federal building or something like that, they might
have been able to do that," Theokas said.

What does he think this statement would accomplish? I think Embry-Riddle
should find someone that thinks before they speak.

What makes you think they even talked to Theokas? They made up everything
else out of whole cloth, why not the quote?
