Viable alternatives for serious aviation discussion by
Dudley Henriques[_2_]
Once again I will post below for anyone interested in serious aviation
related discussion the following alternative web based newsgroups. I
will repost this notice periodically.
Many of the pilots who used to post here are now posting at the
following forums. It's a slightly different format...

Plane & Car Collide by
DaveB[_2_]
NEEDLES, Calif. (AP) ? Authorities say the pilot of an experimental
aircraft was taking off Tuesday from a freeway west of Needles where
he'd made an emergency landing when a car slammed into the plane,
ejecting and killing him.
The San Bernardino County sheriff's office reports three occupants...

1973 Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Video by
Steve Foley
These were 8mm, transferred to VHS, and converted to digital. The company
that did the film to VHS added the sound.

That's the same J3 that is flying there today, or at least was three years
ago.

Minimum IFR altitude Cody to West Yellowstone by
cd
I'm planning a trip to Yellowstone, does anyone know what the IFR
minimum vector altitude is for direct routing from Cody (COD) to West
Yellowstone (WYS)? There is no airway between these two points.

A Google Groups alternative to rec.aviation.piloting? by
Jim Logajan
I note that some people who wish to migrate to a more controlled aviation
forum have a couple issues with the alternatives such as AOPA and POA. The
first being that they appear U.S. centric. The second that the layout is
actually a backward step in user friendliness.
While it isn't as good as...

Traffic advisories workload permitting? by
Robert M. Gary
I know that the AIM tell us that class E airspace traffic advisories
are given to VFR aircraft on a workload basis. However, I seem to
recall some of our controller friends saying that as long as an
aircraft is currently being given flight following the controller must
either advise traffic or...

Third class abroad by
Bertie the Bunyip[_24_]
Apparently, the FAA third is not valid abroad unless specifically allowed
by the coutry you're flying in.
An FAA Class 3 Medical is not issued in accordance with ICAO specifically
because the US filed differences with Annex 3. Therefore the medical is
only valid within the confines of the...

Interesting by
The Bunyip Slayer
Am I the only one that has notice that 95% of our traffic in the past 12
hours, has been nothing but Bertie, Dudley, Mx and the related cross posting
kooks discussing anything to make noise, and certainly not aviation.
I hope others are taking note of this as well. Dudley's new found...

Let's move on by
Viperdoc[_5_]
Anthony will never admit he's wrong, even though he's asked some of the most
naive and ignorant questions, ones that truly demonstrate his lack of
knowledge and experience.
For the real pilots and students, I suggest joining Pilots of America, a
moderated group. It is what this NG used to be,...

Angel Flight Down by
[email protected]
A patient being flown to Boston's Dana Farber was aboard. The flight
originated on Long Island NY's South Fork.
This seems like an extreme case of no good deed going unpunished.
There is so much not said in the news report I've pasted below, but it
is clearly a case where a care giving pilot died,...

It's a story, with photo, of a Secret Service airplane that forced landed.
Notice the N number; appears to be N6208.
Then look that up in the FAA data base.

Question on AVGAS stored at the field by
Tman
For any of you who might know;
When the owner is storing Avgas at the local FBO, do they bear the price
exposure for swings in the market prices of the fuel they have in
inventory, up or down? Or does the supplier (e.g. Texaco, P66) provide
a hedge for the fuel in inventory.
E.g. let's say...

Bertie's Supporters and Sockpuppets - Vol 5 by

Isn't it interesting that so many people will spend so much time speculating
on what's necessary to reform our group, and yet still encourage the
participation of the groups biggest parasite by responding to him. As long
as members continue to support people like Bertie and Mx, the group...
