Where to advertise by
Kathy
Where is the best place to advertise an aircraft? Trade-a-plane is far
from least expensive, but if it sells there fastest, it would be worth
it. Are there better places to market a single engine GA plane?

The dreaded electrical Gremlins strike again!! by
Jon Kraus
I absolutely HATE electrical issues, and we seem to have another one. My
partner flew from Indianapolis to Dallas (via Oklahoma City) and back
over the weekend. Everything was fine on the way there. On the way back
he started having avionics probems. It started with the VOR needles
twitching and...

I'm Going In... Radio Saga Continued... by
three-eight-hotel
I've posted twice before on the problems I have been having with my
Narco radio's:
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.aviation.owning/browse_frm/thread/981307ec4df68cc6
I've decided that I'm going to pull the radio and the connector tray
and run new coax from the radio to the antenna, after...

Carb heat = no rpm drop by
figurado
I just bought a 1973 Cessna 172. During runup at 1700 rpm there seems to be no noticeable drop in rpm when carb heat is applied. We inspected the operation of the cable, and flapper and inspected the box and everything looked fine. We inspected the ducting for blockage and found nothing. What...

Elizabeth flies again, almost by
Michelle P
Well after a new fuel Pump, Oil filter adapter replaced with a remote
filter mount, and a new Attitude indicator. She is finally back in one
piece. No leaks, no drips, no errors. Jut one problem. Tammy is on the
way and it is IMC for a hundred miles. I am not going to fly IMC after
breaking into...

Cessna nose oleo seals by
[email protected]
In the Cessna 172's nosewheel strut are several O-rings, but the
one that seals against the chrome piston sometimes twists in its groove
and a spiral failure (tear) occurs. All the outer-cavity oil escapes,
then the nitrogen leaves and the strut goes flat. The failure appears
to happen rather...

Proposed AD ECi connecting rods by
Jim Burns
I hate repeating things that everybody's probably already read on Avweb or
AOPA, but here's the long and the short of a proposed AD published in the
Federal Register about ECi connecting rods used in overhauled or repaired
Lycoming 360 and 540 cubic inch engines.

Turbo performance vs non-turbo by
John Doe
Ok, another turbo question:
Can someone please explain to me the performance gain by going above 30" MP
(say, during takeoff) on a turbo'd engine.
How much better performance are you getting from the engine at say 35"MP on
takeoff vs a non-turbo'd engine that's going to max out around 29"?
Is it...

Darren
I wanted to pass along a great website for anyone who is in general aviaition and possibly looking for a plane. Their owner is honest and a real pro. Lots of inventory. Give their website a look.

The other story: fullowup by
Michelle P
Well the oil leak is fixed but I have another problem. Geesh it just
never stops!
The Airwolf remote filter adapter arrived as promised and it is a work
of art. Very nicely machined parts. The one thing that was not readily
apparent was the extra $200 for the hoses. The total cost for the...

Piper Aztec - Alternator Conversion by
Dean
I have recently bought a 1960 Aztec with generators. Although these
have been overhauled recently, i'd rather have alternators installed.
I see InterAv have a generic kit. Has anyone installed this before?
What is the time to install, and any issues with particular brand?
Any feedback would be...

Keeping a tube/fabric airplane outside by
Mike Gaskins
Hi guys. I've got a bit of a question for the "veterans" of the group.
I've been looking at some aircraft as possible purchases, and, being a
fan of older styled planes, a lot of them are tube/fabric designs (I'm
really interested in an EAA Biplane or other similar design, though
I've also been...

Cleaning Spark Plugs is a Simple Job... by
Jay Honeck
Lately I had noticed just a smidge of roughness in the engine. Not a
roughness, really, but a slight vibration, maybe a little, tiny, occasional
miss? It was not detectable by anyone except someone who flew the plane as
often as I do (and, in fact, Mary often couldn't sense it), but it...

Wing covering lifespan? by
Michael Horowitz
Over the life of a fabric a/c, it will undoubtedly go thru owners that
hanger it, others that tie it down.
For the purposes of estimating the cost of said a/c, what is a
generally accepted lifespan for a fabric coating? - Mike

Source for PA28-180 split master switch by
Mike Noel
I'm not having any luck locating a new master switch for my '74 Archer, PN
99377-05 / 8911k619. I've got an intermittently bouncing amp meter and
suspect the old master is the culprit.
