cost of panel upgrade on bonanza by
soxinbox
I am getting ready to buy my first plane. I am considering an early 60s
bonanza or debonair. Some of these planes don't have a standard "six pack"
panel layout, and I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how much this
would cost to upgrade. I probably would update the radios at the same time,
but...

PA28-181 - Stuck Mike - King Silver Crown by
Roy Page
My Archer has the original avionic stack, KMA20, KX170B, KX170B etc.
Single PTT on Left Yoke.
A couple of weeks ago the mike stuck open at the end of a 2 hour flight.
The following morning I checked the system and found that I still had a
"stuck mike".
I assumed that it would be the PTT switch...

Adding a glideslope to a KX-155 by
Brinks
I'm looking at a plane that has a KX-155 radio without the glideslope. Can
I add a glideslope to it and get another head, or is that something that has
to be built in to the radio from the factory? Any info is greatly
appreciated!

Insuring a C310 vs. Piper Seneca by
Dave
I've got about 750 Total Time, 50 complex, 100 IFR. Private, IFR,
Commercially rated.
I have no multi time, but am about to go to a school to get it. They
estimate 10-12 hours in my log book when I finish my checkride. So,
in research mode I asked my agent to get me some rates on Senecas...

Install a Garmin GNS430 or an "Apollo" GNS480 ? by
Roy Page
I was all ready to install a GNS 430 but now feeling that a GNS 480 may be a
better option.
Although more expensive, I am getting the impression that the GNS 480 has
significant advantages.
It seems that UPS stole a lead on Garmin with their WAAS approved unit.
Now with Garmin owning the brand and...

Strange, you'd think the lever thing would be instinctive to a Harrier

Replacing Instrument Faces? by
Marco Leon
Hi all. The glass (plastic?) faces of my VSI and altimeter are getting a bit
clouded. Is it possible to get these replaced with new--as in
"clear"--faces? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Marco

Best bet in a used IFR GPS? by
C Kingsbury
Hi all,
Currently examining options for upgrading a 1979 172N with an IFR-certified
GPS. We currently have two good nav/coms, M-1 Loran, and ADF that we want to
replace.
Goal is to find the most cost-efficient IFR GPS install to replace the ADF
and add legal /G and DME capabilities. Keeping in...

Bought an old Percival Sea Prince (twin engine with approximately

to save on car rental, hotel and restaurant costs when traveling. I've
already figured out the transportation portion with a...

In the US, those times are tach times (times when the engine is running).
It is generally NOT logged at all by pilots (nor is there any requirement

Cubans: Good years and bad? by

As I work my way through the sampler order with which Wal and y'all helped, plus
some gifts, I am beginning to contemplate box purchases in the next few months.
Bought a good sized cooler during the fall clearance sales so I have a place for
such purchases to land.
I do not know whether vendors...

Rear passenger legroom in arrow by
Dahlin
I currently fly a 1969 140 and am considering buying an Arrow. Is there
more leg room for rear passengers in the Arrow than the 140? Is there a
difference in the pre 72 and post 72 Arrows with the longer fuselage as far
as legroom. I'm tall and need the seat back which doesn't leave any leg...

auxiliary heat by

Does anyone in the group use a 12v auxiliary heater or heated blanket for
added cabin or passenger heat? I've seen that they come in 150watt/12.5 amp

our alternators but I'm wondering if we should even consider such an...
