need inexpensive manuals for 172 by
Mike Z.
Having just purchased a 1976 Skyhawk, I would like to buy service and parts manuals for both the airframe and the 0-320.
What is the cheapest practical way to find these books.

Wing-walk cleaning by
Mike Noel
My Cherokee's wing-walk has a few oil stains after coming back from an oil
pump impeller gear replacment session with my mechanic. Regular washing
doesn't touch it. I tried hitting it with Windex and that didn't lift it.
I've currently got some wheat-based kitty litter lying on it and...

DRVSM by
Roger Long
I see on AOPA's web site that the FAA has blown off AOPA and all the other
industry groups on DRVSM implementation. Does not getting your biz jet or
turboprop outfitted with this equipment mean you won't be able to fly it
above FL 290 or only at the new intermediate levels?

Piston engine 101 Course? by
[email protected]
Does anyone know of a one-day course on non-fuel-injected piston
aircraft engines? Sort of an Engines 101? Six-cylinder preferred;
Continental 0-300 ideal. Advanced Pilots Seminars has an extensive
course on piston engines but it's far more advanced than I need. I'd
like someone to walk me through...

First year depreciation by
Roger Long
Does anyone out there have a good handle on the two year depreciation
(percent) in probable sale price of a new airplane such as a Skyhawk SP?
Even though this is a newsgroup, this time I'd prefer answers based on
actual facts and real knowledge.

If there were 25 million active GA pilots... by
Dan Luke
....in the USA instead of 400,000 or so:
There would be GA airports *everywhere*. They would be like beehives on the
day before Thanksgiving.
You could rent a T hangar for less than the cost of a 1 br apartment.
The accident rate would be about the same but the fatal accident rate would
be lower...

IFR simulators by
Tony
Im looking to buy one of the Elite or ON TOP IFR simulators. If I wanted
to just buy the software and not the full stack could I still log the 10
hours toward my Instrument rating. Or would I be able to buy the
avionics stack the peddles and yoke off EBAY, and still get the logable
10 hours. Or do...

Three Concordes by

Did anyone see the Three Concordes landing at Heathrow this morning?

From the story:
The last of the three gleaming white British Airways jets to land at
Heathrow took off from New York's John F. Kennedy airport on Friday...

Low Time and Insurance - Cessna P206 by
Shawn
I am a student pilot getting ready to solo next week (26 hours now). I
am interested in a 1/3rd share of a '65 P206 due to my large family.
Apparently annual insurance is currently $1950. The seller has
contacted the partnership's insurance broker who has checked with
their current insurer who...

Didja ever wonder... by
Jay Honeck
....why our Lycoming engines call for 12 (or 8) quarts of oil, when they blow
out anything over 8 (or 6) quarts?
My old A&P, a real gray head with decades of aviation experience, mentioned
the reason to me in conversation today. Here's the poop:
When Lycoming was certifying these engines, they...

New Cessna panel by
C J Campbell
Yesterday I saw the new Cessna Nav III package for the 2004 182s and 206s.
It is a Garmin 1000 system with battery backup (not certified for part 135
IFR, though). At last Cessna enters the 21st century.

Autocontrol IIIB by
PaulaJay1
I have the original Autocontrol IIIB in my 79 Archer. Lately it has been
flying one dot to the right of course when in GPS/NAV mode. I've set the CDI
scale to 1.0nm full scale on the GPS so the error is only about 0.2 nm. If I
set the heading but to the right a little, we fly right down the...
