Hawk XP TBO by
Johnny Google
Hi all,
I've been looking at the possibilty of buying and owning a 1977 Hawk
XP that is very near its 1500 TBO.
As I understand it, starting in 1979, the engine TBO went to 2000.
What is the difference and can the 2000 TBO engine be put in the 1977
Hawk XP?
Or can the changes that make it a 2000...

Wing Covers Pro/Cons by
TF
Just purchased my first plane and have it tied down. It has a canopy cover
but no wing covers. Walking around the airport I only notice one other
plane with wing covers. I would have thought wing covers would be good
protection. During the wnter the rentals would have them to prevent frost...

Navion in flames. by
John[_9_]
Just saw a brief news clip of a burning Navion L-17 at Marlborough,
MA. (about 5 miles from my home) Apparently everyone got out o.k., so
that's a relief. The shot showed the plane with the nose gear
collapsed and flames shooting out the cabin.
We seem to have a number of Navions hereabouts. ...

Need checklist for PA32R-300 Lance by
Paul Tomblin
I left for work today without my checklist for our Lance, and I have a BFR
after work. Can somebody point me to a decent one or two page checklist
that I can download? The one on Dauntless-soft isn't rendering correctly
on my version of Word.

carry a bicycle in a Mooney? by
Dave Butler
I have an M20J and I'd like to be able to take a bicycle sometimes. It's
OK if it doesn't fit through the baggage door, just needs to fit
inside the cabin and not block access through the (only) door. No
passengers, just me in the left seat. I'd prefer not to remove any
seats. I'm willing to...

Line in on Terra audio panel by
Dico
Hello,
I'm going to our avionics shop to have some "noise" hopefull removed
from our Garmin 430 com. While there I'd like them to run a line-in
to our Terra audio panel... just so I can plug a ipod or something
into it while flying longer legs. This, to me, doesn't seem like a
big job. I can...

well, that was interesting by
Bob Noel
Today I went over to the plane to put the new tailcone in the plane (awaiting
installation), and see the strange wire dangling from the tail. Turns out that
the ADF wire had broken. I'm guessing that the plane cover and gusty winds
finally wore out the wire.
And, no, I'm not ready to drop...

Vertical Card Compass? by
Bubba[_2_]
I am trying to find parts for my Hamilton Vertical Card Compass. I bought
the thing, Model HI 350, serial no. 274, for my flying machine in 1982 from
Hamilton Instruments Inc Since then, Hamilton has gone out of business.
Instead of a normal whisley compass, this thing has a rotating...

Yet Another Annual Story by
Kyle Boatright
Actually, a "condition inspection".
Kelly is in Los Angles this weekend, so I have all weekend to play. Or, to
do the condition inspection on the RV-6, open the swimming pool, and mow the
lawn for the first time this year...
Tonight started well. Since the airport is sorta between where I work...

Need help finding a product in 2006 Flymart by
TNap
Last year I saw a product demonstrated in the Flymart that was
essentially a gel type adhesive used to hold small parts, nuts,
screws, etc. to your hand tools. (I believe this was the only
product at this vendor space.) I took a flier for the product
but I am unable to find the information in my...

ELT replacement: Options? by
Peter R.
I was just informed by my mechanic who is performing my annual that my ELT is
fried and needs replacing. I have two choices: Replace the Artex model with
the same one, or upgrade to a newer unit that transmits on the new frequency.
If I go with the replacing the existing model, it transmits on a...

yet another annual story - day three (finished) by
Bob Noel
Nothing to say except wrapped up the annual.
24 hours of time for the two mechanics, which included installing the
knots-2-U strobe (which is NOT a 6.5 hour job), plus some of my time
opening and closing the various panels.
A three day turn on an annual inspection plus an STC install is pretty...

I (like everyone else) am considering purchasing a plane. I've looked

information. However, I'm looking for a spreadsheet that I can plug

download one? It's probebly not...
