Surecheck Avionics Trafficscope VRX by
Jon Kraus
Has anyone used any of the passive traffic alert systems that are out on
the market today? I saw this one on AircraftSpruce sight .4 AMU's
instead of the usual .8 AMU's. I did some searching and found out that
this particular model is discontinued hense the half-price sticker.

Garmin updates by
Dico
Hello...
If you have a 530 or 430, does it accept the same updates? Or are the
updates specific to each machine. Also, if you have both in your
plane (one of each), do you have to purchase 2 updates?
I notice that some 530s come with 'terrain'... is this an option from
garmin? Can it be added...

To overhaul or not to Overhaul, that is the question- by
EridanMan
I've had an opportunity recently to purchase a Piper PA28-140- absolute
creme puff cosmetically... but the problem (and reason for the good
cosmetic condition) is that the plane has been sitting in an
enironmentally stable (dry, 50-80 degree ambient temperature) for
almost a decade now.
(For those...

flight bags by
soxinbox
I have reached the point were I want to upgrade from my initial student
flight bag. It is one of the Jeppeson ones you get free with the private
pilot material purchase. It basically has a few outside pockets and a big
interior chamber with no dividers.
Anyone have any good or bad...

Transponder replacement suggestions by
[email protected]
Hey all... just got official confirmation that my KT76's power output is way
low.... classic sign of weak/dying/dead cavity tube. Just looking for suggestions on
what might be a good, cost-effective replacement. I'm tired of futzing with
transponders so I'm pretty sure I want a solid-state...

Replacing com antennas by
Mike Noel
I've ordered a pair of CI-291 Comant com antennas to replace the well worn
antennas on my Archer. Besides removing any oxidation where the aluminum
base contacts the aircraft and making sure the coax connector is clean and
serviceable and the mechanical connection robust, are there other...

Landing lights by
Robert Barker
We seem to be going thru landing lights more frequently than we should in
our 172's. Are there any STCd alternatives to the standard Cessna part?
Maybe a LED lamp or at least something more durable? I realize it's only a
$40 part, but we're a new club and every little bit helps...
Thanks

aircraft detailing in Massachusetts by
RaR
Hi,
Anyone can recommend a good detailing shop in Mass or RI? I am looking
to have a few touch-ups on a couple of small spots, also exterior
washing, waxing etc. for a AC112.
Thanks,
Radu

Removal of back seat? by
Frode Berg
Hi!
I have a 68' Arrow, and wonder if I can remove the back seat to allow some
bulky transportation.
Or is this seat some sort of stiffening of the airframe?
If I can, can I remove only the seatback? If so, how do I do this?
Any mod to make it easy to fold down and back up again with no tools?...

Annual and rib replacement complete by
Jack Allison
After a long 6.5 weeks in the shop for the annual and replacing two
cracked ribs, yesterday was the day for the test flight. It was my
first time being a test pilot and I recall reading several posts about
first flights following an annual so I took a long time during the
preflight. Add in the...

Birds on the Tail by
Marco Leon
I'm surprised that I have not been able to find much on Google on deterring
birds on the tails of GA aircraft. Maybe I haven't found the magic search
terms yet. Anyhow, has anyone tried this or anything similar with any
success? http://www.absolutebirdcontrol.com/birdspider.htm?ABS=BBG. I...

Carb Air Temperature Hookup by
[email protected]
I'm trying to help a friend on a Fairchild restoration
It has an undocumented carb air temp gauge. Looks like an AN
type indicator-- cannon plug with 3 pins, A, B & C. The pointer
has no zero position so I think it's a ratio measuring device
like many fuel gauges.
The sender is a resistance...

Bendix/King survey by

For those of you that are as unimpressed with Bendix/King's latest middle
market GA avionics offerings as I, here's your chance to blow off some steam

Cost of Sandel 3308 projection lamp? by
Dico
Hello,
I was reading that the Sandel EHSI unit requires a new projection lamp
every year (or 225 hours, whichever comes first). I am wondering what
the cost is of this projection lamp? And can you install this yourself
(somehow I doubt it)?
Thanks,
