Best homebuilt for ~700 nm commute by
es330td
I have a firm opportunity to take a much higher paying job and expand
my education but taking the family might be difficult. If I have to
leave them I'd like to find some way to fly myself back and forth for
frequent visits for the 4-5 years I will be there. Flying commercial
is not an option as...

VW Engine Wear Factors
The exhaust valves are the weak link in any air cooled Otto Cycle
engine using poppet valves. The service manuals for Pratt-Whitney and
Wright provide the best examples of how the exhaust valves should be
designed for optimum wear. Valve stems of large diameter and...

'Kiddie' trade by

Someone wrote:
"Or even hot rod "kiddie" (after market) stuff"
The term 'kiddie trade' was coined by after-market VW retailers to
describe customers who act in a foolish or immature fashion, such as
buying a chromed part to make their bug go faster, wrapping magnets
around the fuel pipe to...

The EAA should allow us to use our folding bikes at Airventure by
Sliker
I'm really tired of their stubborness about this issue. Airventure is
the one place a folding bike would be invaluable. But instead, they
insist we walk with no assist over the huge area of the fly-in.
As a result of their turning a deaf ear to requests for change, I'm
not renewing my membership...

Spray paint can nozzles by
Stuart & Kathryn Fields
Is it me and advancing age? Or did the paint can Mfrs. increase the pressure
required to operate the standard paint spray can nozzle? I seem to remember
that I could just about empty a can before my finger got a permanent dent.
Now I don't get 1/4 of the can before my forearm goes into seizure...

Computer help needed by

To All:
During my recent stay in hospital my computer system suffered
extensive damage, apparently when a cat convinced an equipment rack to
collapse. Unfortunately, I was using a lap-top as a temporary
terminal on my LAN and it was physically damaged in the crash. Until
I can repair the lap-top...

Zenith 601 builders!!! by
Lou
To all the 601 builders out there. How long does it actually take to
build the basic
kit? I'm not talking about all the extras that are on our dare to
dream list, or the quick build kit, I mean basic VFR package, easy
paint, just enough to have fun and fly.

At what point is "builder" status conferred? by
es330td
In the thread I started about the 700 mile commuter airplane someone
suggested getting a used Long-EZ. (I would like to point out that my
dream of flying began the day I was much younger when I saw picture in
a late '80's National Geographic of two EZ's and a Viggen flying in
formation so Rutan's...

I'm looking for a source of 1 1/2" flexible exhaust tubing. Mild steel is
acceptable. I want to use it for a model of the headers of a tuned exhaust

The idea is to have 4 equal length pieces attached to exhaust...

The Cancer Engine by
[email protected]
Cancer is Bad Stuff. Cancer does not deserve a Good Fight nor going
down with the ship whilst keeping our Spirits Up. Yet I've been urged
to do all those things as if Cancer is an honorable opponent. It
isn't. And that means it does not deserve being treated fairly. If
the Cancer Man was...
