high tow vs low tow by
Steve Koerner
As a US pilot, I've flown low tow a few times but mostly just high tow as that is the convention here. I'm wondering what all of the trade-offs are by the two methods? Might it be time to reconsider this?
As pointed out on another thread, low tow would seem to be safer against the problem of...

Life glider hours with winch by
[email protected]
Hi all.
I listened from some pilots that the glider life hours reduce if you use winch start.
Is that true? I looked for some data about and I did not found.
have a nice day, José.

Cobra Trailer Emergency Brake Experience by

I have been having bad luck with trailers recently. Here is what happened a few days ago, maybe someone will benefit from hearing about my misfortune:

DNN aircraft detection by
[email protected]
Not sure how practical for gliders but for powered aircraft seems useful to augment ADSB. They have tested in an around Edwards and could detect gliders.
Just need to find a way to keep bugs off the camera lens.

Recirculate cockpit air to keep feet warm? by
[email protected]
As we know, flying in wave with the sun shining, much of the cockpit stays reasonably warm, but the feet, down in the shade, get cold. So, as I'm here at home on a cold night with a fan helping distribute the heat from the wood stove to another room, it occurred to me that something like that may...

K8b restoration by
John Foster
I was given a junked K8b due to water damage to the wood at the wing root and multiple tears in the original fabric and chipped/peeling paint. However, it looks like it may be restorable (worth it, that's another story). Anyway, I'm interested to know if there is an online repair manual that lays...

101 Pegase A by
Nick Kennedy[_3_]
Does anybody know the history of the above ship listed on Wings and Wheels?
At a asking price of 13k it seems like it could be a great first glass ship for someone. There taking offers. Looks like it needs a computer, some tow out gear. Throw a couple of thousand at battery's, trailer if it needs...

Glider preparation for a competition by
[email protected]
I'm flying in my first gliding competition this year. I've flown a reasonable number of XC tasks over the last couple of years and thought it would be fun to enter a small local competition.
My glider is in pretty good condition and I'll be polishing it before the competition, but what other tips...

Flarm antenna mounting in a K6 by
Rob Shepherd
Afternoon all,
I have a Flarm Powermouse with a 16cm antenna with a 1m lead so it will
have to be mounted in front of the cockpit area but space in very limited,
if in front of the pilot, I'm assuming as it has to penetrate through the
pilot to see behind, coverage in this area would be...

Pawnee question by
Greg Arnold[_2_]
The local towplane operation has a Pawnee that back in 1996 had an STC
from STC Inc. (SA01154AT) modification to the wing attach cluster.
Apparently it still requires a wings off inspection every two years.
The owner of the operation has heard that there may be an inexpensive
permanent fix that...

FLARM and ADS-B and PCAS Traffic Display on PC by
Paul Remde
Hi,
A customer has a PowerFLARM Core and wants to use it to display nearby FLARM, ADS-B and PCAS traffic on a PC - on the ground. It is easy to connect the PowerFLARM Core to the PC's serial port, but I'm not aware of any software to display the traffic on a map. Any suggestions? Are any...
