Learning to soar web site by
Roger Worden
There used to be a wonderful web site which described the experiences of a
student learning to soar at Aboyne in the U.K. It had a great diagram of a
typical flight, with a couple of dozen links to pages explaining each phase
of the learning process. The URL was http://www.miskin.demon.co.uk/ ...

Ray,
Here are the coordinates for Johnny McGhee's and Dead Stick. I forget
what format this file is in, and I guessed at the altitude of McGhee's.

That one was spammed across just about every newsgroup in existence,
including the news.admin.net-abuse.* groups. Not too clever.

the same course with polemtn and then Zion as turnpoints, Sports was...

Region 4 S: ELT Mandatory by
Chris OCallaghan
I just received a note from Lanier Frantz stating that all competitors
at R4S must have an ELT. I understand the reason for this decision,
but I question whether it will have the intended effect. I have long
been against mandatory ELT use in soaring comopetitions for one reason
only: they do not...

ELT Mandatory ? by
Jim Culp
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen of gliding,
Please consider carefully. What is our nature? Individual;
or care from cradle to the grave?
Equipment should be pilot's choice, with pilot weighing
risks and outcome potentials.
Further, if pilot does not return from a gliding flight
let the contest...

New Castle ELT Requirement by
Ed Byars
I'm glad to see the healthy discussion on ELTs. It's long overdue. New
Castle. I conferred at length with Lanier (my long time friend and
confidant) and urged him to make the ELT rule. I hope I was influential. I
urged him to act dictatorially as owner of the airport. He has no authority
to...

Marske Pioneer, 15 meter or Standard Class? by
mat Redsell
On the Marske wing the elevator is on the trailing edge of the main wing but
now that we have a moveable CG ( it acts like a trim) the elevator is now
acting like a flap. With the weight all the way forward I can use up
elevator to have negative flaps and take advantage of the drag bucket
moving...

Club Class WGC online display by
[email protected]
The VPOS system on the http://www.wgc2004.no/ site seems very
disappointing compared with those used in previous WGCs, or am I
missing something?
I would expect 'Visual Position' to show a map but all I get is a
list, if there are transmitters in selected gliders surely this is
relatively...

Con artist time waster warning by
Mark Davies
Should anybody who is selling a glider or aircraft
recieve a contact via email from some person called
Gret Olsen I would recommened ignoring it. They have

and USA with promises of buying your aircraft for cash
and then coming up with a long sob...

Soaring advice by
Marc
Having always been fascinated by flight and thermals from an early
age(R/C soarers/flight sims user), I had the opportunity 7 years ago
to do a 5-day gliding course at the beautiful Long Mynd Gliding club;
needless to say it was one of the best experiences of my life.
As luck would have it, on the...

Cambridge Instruments by
Ian McPhee
People do not come much better than Gary K at Cambridge. Just talk to
him on the phone and quietly he goes thru things with you.
Regretfully the quality control of Martinsville Cambridge left a bit
to be desired but it was real basic stuff which took 5 min to fix. Do
not blame Gary for Martinsville...
