Texas Winter Down Wind Dash Contest? by
Snead1
We have had very little rain in Texas this fall. Is anyone interested in a
handicapped open distance contest during December, January, and February?
Longest handicap distance flown in Texas wins.

Marfa Task areas & directions by
chris
I am planning a trip to Marfa TX for next summer. Several pilots in
the group want to attempt long flights, including some FAI length O&R
and Triangles.
300km, 500km, 750km and 1000km lengths. These lengths put you over a
lot of ground.
I'd like some advice from experienced Marfa/Hobbs pilots on...

Dr Jack's BLIPMAPS by
Jim
I came across Dr Jack's BLIPMAP forecast page
http://www.drjack.net/BLIPMAP/NE/index.html
Probably a lot of good information if you know how to use it (and some very
pretty maps), but also not exactly intuitive and slightly overwhelming.
Anybody find good use of this material, and in an orderly...

Final Glide for Don Dorrell by
JJ Sinclair
December Soaring has Don Dorrell listed under Final Glide. Does anyone have
details on his death? The Don Dorrell that I knew was a young guy and as you
all know that means anybody younger than me. Sad news, Don was a good racing
pilot and always fun to be around. His wife, Joy, was just that, a...

Hi There,
I have a VP3E that is giving nonsense characters on startup. Have flicked
all switches to no avail. Anyone seen this before? Is there anyone left that
can service Peschges stuff?

Calistoga 1967-68 by
Dale and Rosemary Thompson
In 1967-68 I took some early glider training at Calistoga, California.
Am now assembling some history notes. Does anyone have any
recollections to share about Mike Duffy and Calistoga Air Park?
Thanks,
Dale Thompson

'Nother PW-5/World Class question by
Bob Kuykendall
Somebody posted on this topic a while back, but I can't find it now.
So my apologies for repeating it:
For how long is the PW-5 the official glider of the World Class? Are
there any provisions in the FAI or IGC rules for the eventual
retirement of the design and a switch to a second-generation...

Handicapping distributed competitions by
tango4
How do we go about handicapping flights made on different continents in
different ships? There are several online competition sites in operation but
they seem to apply a standard ship handicap without compensating for the
place or conditions prevailing at the time of the flight.
How can the guy in...

Can anyone advise which battery cells I should use to make up these
