Drogue chute for the Perlan by
[email protected]
The Perlan Project (www.perlanproject.com) has need for a small drogue chute
for testing the tail chute deployment and release systems of the Perlan glider.
We are looking for a drogue chute similar to that used by an ASW 12, Nimbus 2,
or Libelle.
If you have such a chute that you would be willing...

LX Adapter Cable by
Dan Marotta
My new (to me) Stemme has an LS7007 Pro IGC installed but no data bases
loaded. I see a 5-pin DIN connector on the panel near the control head
but no cable came with the aircraft. Does anyone out there have a spare
that they would like to sell or donate to the cause?

(US) Spring Airport and Airspace Data Update by
2KA
Hello All,
It is Spring again, and if you haven't done so in awhile it would be a great time to update the airspace and airport databases in your glide computer, PNA, handheld GPS, or desktop planning software in preparation for the upcoming US season. The FAA data for the charting cycle...

Flight tracking technologies by
kiwiindenver
Hi All,
For those of you wondering about glider flight tracking options this year. I suggest watching the Seminole Lake Gliderport activity so see an example of a number of technologies all in one place.

Scanning vrs electronics by
Waveguru
I do not have any anti collision devices in my sailplanes so I scan and scan and scan. Our airspace is complicated, so I do intend to get at least a transponder. In all my scanning, I almost never see a target in the 4 o-clock, or even 3 0-clock position as hard as I try. I don't see them until...

Questions on rules that changed this year (2016) in US Soaring by
SoaringXCellence
All,
I've been reviewing the rule changes and have a couple questions:
It looks like the Club class is now restricted to 15M ships (with a handicap between .089 and 1.020) The handicap list on the SSA site currently shows a number of ships with greater than 15M spans.
So can we fly in Club...

Slips in turns and landing with winglets by
[email protected]
I know this is a silly question, but I was reading an article by Dick Johnson that talked about holding a slight slip while thermally. This article was written before winglets and I was wondering if the same idea applied to gliders with winglets. Also, as for slipping to lose altitude for landing...

Tow Tracker by

I have started tinkering around with the idea of developing a Tow-tracking for clubs to use that would not interfere with operations yet still be able to provide an upgrade to having a dedicated logger try and confirm release altitudes.
My current thought is to have a cell phone app that talks to...

HANDHELD RADIO by

All,
I have been using a JRC JHP-500 handheld radio for field communications

standard 6" flex antenna. When I am in the air and someone tries to
talk with me using the handheld, the transmission always sounds very
weak, even if I am...
