Tropics Are Heating Up. by
Bob Youngblood
As we get closer to August the tropics are showing those typical late summer cyclone development possibilities. There is one on the horizon for early Sunday, so I guess it is time to put the gliders in the box and store on a secure location. Our club will be securing all gliders and I will take the...

Best Flight Of the Day NA by
Bob Youngblood
I have been looking at OLC and trying to make a determination as to had the best flight of the day in North America. Now listen, no politics here, just flight evaluation and the cut off time is midnight on the East Coast. No flaming liberals shall post. Bob

LS6 canopy gas spring by
Richard Livingston
We (3 owners) have an LS6 with a "tired" gas spring that lifts the canopy. A simple google search and visits to Wings and Wheels does not turn up a source or specifications for this spring. Does anyone know a replacement part number, or specifications, or a source for a replacement gas spring?

New members continue to bring excitement and activity to club, helping out with daily activities and special projects. Just yesterday we had a youth member do...

Scoring when abandoning a contest turnpoint by
[email protected]
Hey all. I somehow got the idea that there was strategy involved to maximize score on contest flights where one decides not to continue to a turnpoint. But I don't see anything in the rules other than incomplete tasks essentially being scored as a landout.
Am I missing something?
Good to make it...

Our club is researching methods to move the tow release off the floor of our Super Cub to a position closer to the throttle. If you have done this modification or know someone that has I would very much appreciate any information and/or photos you or they would be willing to share.

Scheibe glider parts question by
WB
Longshot question regarding parts commonality in Scheibe aircraft: Can anyone tell me if Scheibe used a common aileron bellcrank across different models of their gliders?
Thanks!

Condor 2 by
[email protected]
I bought Condor 2 and intended to run 3 monitors because it's how I've run sims with other well known programs with zero issues. The computer it's on is not one purchased at a retail store front outlet. It was purpose built and flew/flies X-plane just dandy with no problems whatsoever. Two bridged...

Glider Insurance? by
Graham Drinkell[_2_]
Why have the costs risen so high? I was a loyal customer for over 10
years to a particular insurance company, whom informed me I was not
allowed to allow young pilots to fly my glider.
They have now declined me from their insurance cover.
I have tried another broker, but their charges are...

First Ridge Traverse - Wyoming Range, Wyoming by
Tim Taylor
Like first ascents in climbing, first ridge traverses in soaring can be challenging. We had the pleasure today to do a first traverse on the Wyoming Range in western Wyoming, just south of Jackson Hole. Many years ago I pioneered the ridge run on the Salt River Range, it took several years to...

solo 2350 owners by
Toby Wright[_2_]
A long time back, I helped set up an email discussion group to let mini
nimbus owners exchange experiences and knowledge, which seemed to
work very well, and indeed is still going strong today.
Since then I've moved onto a turbo with the solo 2350 engine which I've
been operating happily for...

Mid Week Towing Availability by
Roy B.
With the contest season a bust this year I am thinking about taking the glider on a road trip to someplace in the US where I can fly for a week or more. So - can we please start a string here about tow operations where tows (or even winch/auto launches) are available mid week, or 6-7 days per week?...
