Airstart reliability by
Tom Nau
A friend of mine recently was involved in an outlanding accident. It
seems as though having an engine on-board would help to avoid
outlandings and therefore outlanding accidents. If there are any
generalities to be made, which are generally more reliable for
airstarts - sustainer systems or...

National Records & Citizenship by
Tony[_5_]
I couldn't find much on a search but am really curious as to why
apparently National records are based on citizenship and not on the
location of the actual flight? This leads to very misleading listings
of National Records. For example the World Altitude Record of Fossett
and Enevoldsen of 50,721...

Grob 102CS tow-out gear by
Stefan Murry
Hi, all, long time listener, first time poster.
I'm planning on flying in the Region 10 contest in August in my club's
mighty Grob 102CS. I know this will strike fear into the hearts of
all the other competitors.
Unfortunately, we lack any tow-out gear.
I'm in the process of building a wing...

Airstart reliability by
Dave Nadler
Have a look at this survey:
http://www.nadler.com/public/DeRese_2008_Survey_results_engines_in_sailplanes.pdf
30% of pilots have had an engine failure.
Motorgliders require additional margins to be safe,
and many are not so reliable.
So far, my Antares 20E has not let me down,
but it is a...

Oudie by

I have lost my observation zones for "point". The start and finish
zones are shown as before, but yesterday I could not see the
zones around my turn point.
In task, edit, the zones are clearly shown but they are not
transferring to the map....any idea what I am doing wrong?

What's the deal with 20 year life span on chutes? by
Gary[_5_]
I apoligize of this has been discussed in the past. Looking for a used
chute I keep running into talk of 20 year life span for parachutes. Is
it solely up to the rigger to pack or refuse a chute that age?
Still looking for a used chute that will not break the bank after
recently buying an...
